The compassionate act I have chosen to write about is volunteering at a local

soup kitchen every Saturday morning. I have been doing this for the past six
months, and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience.
Firstly, I must say that volunteering at the soup kitchen has taught me to
appreciate the small things in life. Seeing the faces of the people we serve
every Saturday morning; I have realized that we often take the simple things
like a hot meal or a warm bed for granted. Seeing how grateful and appreciative
the people are when we serve them their meals, has taught me to be thankful
for everything I have.
Secondly, volunteering at the soup kitchen has made me more empathetic

towards others. I have learned to put myself in other people's shoes, to try and
