1.0 OBJECTIVE

i. To ensure that works are carried out in accordance with the specifications
and drawing.
ii. To ensure the installation drainage outlet for new tertiary canal follow as
per construction drawing.

2.0 SCOPE OF WORK

i. Carry out the installation of drainage outlet for new tertiary canal as per
Construction Drawing.

5.0 INTRODUCTION

This method statement describe and outline the method statement for drainage
outlet new tertiary canal for this project. The purpose is to function as a flow
measurement and flow control to provide a stable and accurate water discharge for
supplementary irrigation and meet the flexibility of faster water discharge practices for
rice cultivation.

6.0 WORK METHODOLOGY

6.1 Excavation Work for Drainage Outlet New Tertiary Canal

i. The excavation shall be carried out by using an excavator / backhoe to the

lines and levels in accordance with the construction drawings or per
instructed by the S.O / S.O.R.
ii. Excavation shall include upholding sides of excavation, preparation of
surface, double handling works, additional excavation to provide working
space and removal of dead services including disposal of surplus
excavated material.
iii. Excavation in earth material for 150mm diameter UPVC Class ‘D’ pipe,
depth not exceeding 1.50m.
iv. When excavation work complete, S.O / S.O.R shall inspect for approval.

6.2 Installation of UPVC Class ‘D’ Pipes using Trenchless method

i. Check the trench bottom level with levelling instrument to match the invert
level of the paddy field and to achieve clearance level of the bottom of
precast U-canal.
ii. After the excavation complete, prepare area to pilot hole throught the
ground and start pushing the pipe with the excavator or backhoe.
iii. The 150mm UPVC Class ‘D’ outlet pipe is pushed into its ideal position
without being subjected high levels of stress. Contractor shall submit
product catalogue for S.O / S.O.R approval.
iv. Pipes and fittings shall be examined for damage and the joint surfaces (if
any).
v. After installation of pipe, concrete surround is required at drainage outlet
pipe crossing farm road where depth of cover is less than 600mm depth or
otherwise not required if depth of cover exceed 600mm at pipe crossing
location.
vi. Then, the original trench soil shall be used for backfill at 150mm layer
manually compacted over the layer of pipe surround and shall be inspected
by S.O / S.O.R for approval.

7.0 QA/QC ASPECT

The purpose of quality control is to provide a framework for the operation of the
framework in order to achieve and meet the requirements of the project.
i. To ensure work quality and work standards can be achieved consistently
in all aspects of work on the construction site; each building material
received on the site must be referred to the approval of materials, namely
the catalog of building materials, sirim, calibration certificate and
checked the size and condition of the building material is in accordance
with the requirements of the project.
ii. To provide a safe work environment and a systematic framework.
iii. Each work plan must go through the preparation of the Request for
Inspection (RFI) form and refer to the Inspection Checklist to record each
work on the construction site and quality control can be maintained. All

documents must be submitted to the consultant representative for

verification.

8.0 OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH (OSH)

8.1 Safety Aspect

i. The objective is to implement the quality control at site which shall be

strictly followed by the construction teams to promote safe, healthy,
secured and environmentally friendly workplace / site at all times.
ii. Incoming materials and equipment, erected equipment and system, site
supervision and laboratory inspection services shall be checked to catch
any errors early before costly correction are needed to meet specified
requirement.
iii. The delivery Order and Quality Control reports of the materials shall be
submitted and verified by the Consultant upon arrival at site.
iv. All workers will be provided with appropriate personnel protection
equipment (PPE) and this must be worn during the work. Workers who
failed to comply with this requirement will be removed from site.
v. Tool box briefing will be held before employees start work to remind
employees about safety procedures that must be practiced and adhered
to so that accidents at construction sites can be avoided.
vi. Safety work procedure will be established in compliance with DOSH
requirements inclusive of all pertinent machinery and operator
certificated will be submitted to the Site Safety Supervisor.
vii. Unauthorized personnel are not permitted within construction area.
viii. Site Safety Supervisor will closely supervise and checked the safety of
the construction area. Safety measure will be intensified when the risk
are higher during period of work.

8.2 Personnel Protective Equipment

The personnel protective equipment (PPE) will be provided to the workers

onsite includes the following:-

i. Safety helmets (hard hat)

ii. Safety vest
iii. Safety boots
iv. Safety glasses
v. Dust mask
vi. Working gloves (if necessary)
vii. Ear plugs (if necessary)

8.3 House keeping

Housekeeping is an essential part of safety for the daily routine.

Housekeeping would include the following items :-
i. Maintain access / egress to all working area.
ii. Store and stack all construction materials in safe and orderly manner.
iii. Avoid littering around the jobsite.

9.0 EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN

i. The work shall be carried out in accordance with the Emergency

Response Plan when the health and safety of worker are threatened.
ii. The Plan will be used to manage emergency incidents to protect life, the
environment, property and to restore the condition to normal condition in
the shortest possible time.
