PREAMBLE
We, the members of ‘Maritime Innovation & Design Club’, to fully realize our purpose, do hereby adopt and establish this constitution as the guiding instrument of our club.
ARTICLE I – NAME OF THE CLUB
The name of this Club shall be ‘Maritime Innovation & Design Club’, hereafter referred to as MIDC.
ARTICLE II – PURPOSE OF THE CLUB
As the proverb goes, “Necessity is the mother of innovation,” design is developing at a breakneck pace, and we must keep up if we want to survive in this engineering world. The entire designing process is moving toward computer-aided systems as engineering demand increases globally. As engineers, we must understand the numerous functions of designing software. The ‘Maritime Innovation & Design Club’ is founded as the need for a location where the necessary software could be learned without any issues.
The purposes of The Club:
To make the students more skilled in design, analysis and programming by learning the respective software. To make them capable of participating in international competitions like WFS (World Ferry Safety Competition). To bring out innovative ideas to make change in the industry. To provide skilled Marine Professionals in the industry. To make a network for job seekers and recruiters. To give academic and professional support. Inspire students to work as an individual and in a team as well. ARTICLE III – MEMBERSHIP Section 1. Membership in MIDC shall be limited to students of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU). Section 2. Membership in MIDC shall not be limited to students based on their race, colour, religion, gender, national origin, age, ability. Section 3. If any member is expelled for adopting unfair means in the examination, his/her membership on this club will be detained for lifetime. If any violence is reported against any member inside or outside university, his/her membership on this club will be detained for lifetime.
Article III – SPONSOR FACULTY & COORDINATOR
Sponsor faculty is Faculty of Engineering & Technology, BSMRMU Proposed Coordinator is Dr. S M Rashidul Hasan, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Naval Architecture & Offshore Engineering
ARTICLE III – EXECUTIVES OF THE CLUB
Section 1. The executives of the Club shall be selected from the active members. Section 2. The selected executives of MIDC shall consist of leadership roles, for example – President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, which shall serve as the Executive Committee. Section 3. Elections: A. All officers shall be selected on or before April 1 of each year, and shall serve one-year terms, which may take effect after April 1. B. All officers shall be selected by the previous executive board of the club when they end their one-year term. Section 4. The positions in which executives of this club will be selected: 1. President 2. Vice President 3. General Secretary 4. Assistant General Secretary 5. Treasurer 6. Assistant Treasurer 7. Office Secretary 8. Assistant Office Secretary 9. Organizing Secretary 10. Assistant Organizing Secretary 11. Media and Publication Secretary 12. Assistant Media and Publication Secretary 13. Graphics and Content Designer 14. Assistant Graphics and Content Designer 15. Resource and IT Manager 16. Assistant Resource and IT Manager Section 5. Roles of Executives:
The President shall:
1. Hold Executive Committee meetings 2. Preside over and chair all club meetings. 3. Be responsible for agenda development. 4. Keep the advisor informed of all club meetings and activities. 5. Serve as the official spokesperson for the club.
The Vice President shall:
1. Preside over and chair all club meetings in the absence or inability of the President. 2. Serve as parliamentarian of the club. 3. Report to the club any information derived from committees.
The General Secretary shall:
1. Record what was done at club meetings and keep accurate permanent minutes. 2. Keep an accurate and up-to-date list of members. 3. Keep a copy of the constitution and/or bylaws and have it available for easy reference during meetings. 4. Write motions down accurately and be prepared to read them.
The Treasurer shall:
1. Prepare the Club budget. 2. Prepare money request/deposit forms and submit according to institutional procedures. 3. Maintain financial records in an organized manner. 4. Make regular reports to the Executive Board and the Club. 5. Coordinate solicitations and fundraisers. BY-LAWS
ARTICLE I – MEETINGS
Section 1. Regular meetings shall be scheduled once a month.
Section 2. Special meetings shall be called anytime. Section 3. Meetings cannot be conducted unless a quorum of the executives is present. A quorum is defined as 90% of the executive members.
