that some repairs may be needed as the units age.
Many people may be aware that an assault and
robbery took place off the property at Park Place. If you plan
to buy or sell something online, meeting in a public place
is better to avoid potential problems. The Northville Police
Station at Six Mile Rd and Winchester Dr. has designated
parking spots for such transactions, which the police monitor
by cameras. Also, please note that on the Nextdoor app,
everything off Seven Mile Road (such as Park Place, Northville
Woods Apartments, and the Swan Harbour Apartments) is
categorized under Highland Lakes. Therefore, posts under
Highland Lakes may not necessarily be about the community.
Last Thursday, the Township approved selling bonds
to build the Essential Services Complex at Legacy Park off
Seven Mile Road. Some groundbreaking work will occur
soon, and the building should be finished by the spring
of next year. This new complex will include a second fire
station, a new police headquarters, a new headquarters for
Public Works, and Parks and Recreation storage. Please note
that this new complex will not replace the one in front of the
high school in Northville.
Board Action: Motion by Randy Blaylock, support by
Michelle Todorov, to adjourn the public meeting. All in
favor. Motion Passed.
Meeting adjourned at 7:17 p.m.

DAY TRIPPIN’
Sometimes we just might want to get away for a day and
explore a new place!
In an effort to help in this endeavor, we offer a new column which will appear monthly in the
Herald dedicated to supplying local travel experiences shared by your neighbors.

In this issue, Michele Todorov recently took a trip to Flint and shares some of the places she

If you have taken a short trip and think others may enjoy it, please feel free to email it to:

local attractions, restaurants, and recommendations of things to do.

PLUS, if you have any pictures of the event or of you having great fun during your excursion,
please send them along in your email to Emily.

You could even take a picture with a copy of the Herald to show that Highland Lakes’ residents
are “out & about” DAY TRIPPIN’!!!

Dear Friends and Neighbors,
"It is the vision of the Northville Historical Society to remain the historic heart of Northville
through stewardship of the buildings, artifacts, and grounds of Mill Race Village for
generations to come."

The city of Northville does NOT fund Mill Race Village but relies upon grants,
sponsorships, and fundraising activities staffed mainly by volunteers like you and me who
want to make a difference. We are in desperate need of volunteers!

Our next fundraiser is PI Day on Thursday, March 14, and we need home-baked pies for
the occasion. The Northville Historical Society will sell whole pies and pie slices at Mill Race
at the Cady Inn. That would be an excellent opportunity to show off your baking skills while
contributing to a wonderful cause! We also need pie lovers, so spread the word! Perhaps you
and a friend could plan an outing to enjoy a slice of pie and coffee in a historic inn.

Are you a history buff? Would you like to become a docent in one of the charming
buildings on the grounds of Mill Race Village during special events and on some Sundays
during the summer months? Training is provided, explaining the history of the building in an
informal manner. Retired schoolteachers, librarians, and theatrical people are often attracted
to the prospect of becoming a docent, but all are welcome!
