Major Scales in two octaves

Concept of Octave:

An octave is a distance between two


musical notes that have the same letter
name. C major scales have C, D, E, F,
G, A, B & C1 notes, thus the space
between the first C and the next C1 is
called an octave and the space between
C and C2 is called two octave

We can try visualize the concept of octave in the guitar fretboard considering the C note.

The patterns are movable shapes, we can move this shape all along the fretboard
to find new scales . Identifying the root note and associating the above pattern will help us
with the process.

The above pattern is suitable to play major scales with the root note on the 6th string. To
play the major scales with the root note on the 5th string, we will take an example of the
D major scale and play the below pattern.

Minor scales

Minor scale is a seven note scale. It is derived from the major scale by lowering its 3rd, 6th ,7th
note by half a step or semitone.

Thus the formula of minor scale can be seen as, W H W W H W W
