ABSTRACT
Not Slacking Off But Hey, There’s AI: The Utilization Of AI In Accomplishing
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the capability of computer programs to think and mimic
human actions and perform tasks that require human intelligence. Artificial intelligence is
known for problem-solving machines combining computer science and robust data. AI is
designed to rapidly make analytics and predictions accurately and efficiently with only
minimal human effort. The essence of AI is to apply human intelligence and allow its
users to input relevant data for the AI to analyze, study, evaluate, and even design.

with people, decreasing the number of students who struggle with coping with school-
related problems. According to the Horizon Report 2019 Higher Education Edition,

Even if the ability of AI to enormously support teaching and learning is highly valued by
most, some ethical risks still come in with AIEd ( Richter, 2019) such as budget cuts.
Administrators may consider replacing human labor with AI. However, AI, just like any
other invention, can have errors in its system. It is true that AI is convenient and accurate
most of the time. However, the probability of it replacing humans in labor is very
unlikely. Many administrations still handle confidential information from work and
from Apple’s Siri which later on got introduced to its new rival Google’s Alexa (Pundir,
2019). TTS (Text to Speech) opens the opportunity to conveniently perform multiple
tasks as well as help those who struggle using their phones due to certain disabilities.
Many under the educational industry are facing the benefits and challenges brought by
the continuously and rapidly developing artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, which
would be most likely to change the culture, methods, and foundations of educational
institutes (Popenici & Kerr, 2017). Virtual Assistants work mainly on voice as

(AIEd), technology massively advances and affects traditional methods of teaching and

than human intelligence; however, unlike the latter, it is unable to interpret meanings.

METHODOLOGY
This chapter presents the discussion of research methods and procedures that will
be adhered to by the researchers in order to gather relevant information for the data
collection and analysis. This will include a comprehensive description of the following:
research design, participants and selection criteria, research locale, research instruments
and techniques, data gathering procedures, and data analysis and procedures.
The research design is the framework of methods and techniques that researchers
select and apply to their research study. According to Baxter&Jack (2008) qualitative
case study is a research method that aids in the analysis of a phenomenon within a
specific context using a variety of data sources and a variety of lenses in order to expose
multiple aspects of the phenomenon. Qualitative case study methodology provides tools
for researchers to study complex phenomena within their context. This is a type of
qualitative research design that can help researchers focus on a specific person, event,

The sampling technique that will be used for this study is a probability sampling
technique where the targeted population is the grade 11 ABM students of Las Piñas City
National Senior High School – Doña Josefa Campus, with the objective to observe their
academic performances. The study will solely focus on the experiences of the participants
and their feedback to various academic tasks while using AI apps. The probability
sampling technique that will be used is simple random sampling. Simple random
sampling is a probability sampling method that provides each member of the population
an equal chance of being selected as a participant of the study. The sample population
will only include grade 11 ABM students of LPCNSHS-DJC. Simple random sampling is
the most ideal sampling technique due to its ability to secure the information and avoid

A focus group is a research method that brings together a small group of people to
answer questions in a moderated setting (George, 2021). The research instrument that
will be used to collect data for this research is an interview. This will involve asking
open-ended questions using an unstructured interview for gathering new ideas and
viewpoints, giving the data more diversity to learn whether or not AI is capable of
helping grade 11 ABM students complete their academic tasks. This will allow
academic performance and take the opportunity to test out their preliminary
understanding of it.
The researchers first prepared the questions that would be asked of the participants
to get the data they required. The Grade 11 ABM students who use AI in their academic
tasks will be the researchers’ target participants in their study, which will be carried out at
Las Piñas East National High School’s Dona Josefa Campus. The researchers will present
the consent form, which has been signed by their advisor, before the interview begins.
The importance of the respondents' responses as the primary topic of the study will be
explained to the respondents by the researcher. Each participant will be asked fifteen
questions over the course of 30 to 60 minutes to learn about the many ways AI has been
used in their academic tasks. Interview questions are validated by panelists and English
teachers. The researchers will examine and interpret the data once it has all been gathered
and analyzed.
The data will be collected through semi-structured interview with Grade 11 ABM
students from LPCNSHS Doña Josefa Campus. With the participants’ consent, the
interviews will be written and audio recorded, and will be conducted non-verbatim to
ensure that the participants’ comments are accurately preserved. Thematic coding will be
used to analyze the data. According to (Braun and Clarke’s,2006) thematic analysis
method is an interactive process consisting of six steps: (1) becoming familiar with the
data, (2) generating codes, (3) generating themes, (4) reviewing themes, (5) defining and
