 US 6 - 4 mm circular needle or size to
obtain gauge
 waste yarn
 stitch markers
 3 buttons
 tapestry needle

YARN: Amalfi Debbie Bliss { 70% Cotton, 15%


Rayon, 10% Linen, 5% Silk, 110 yards/101
meters per 50g} – 6/7/8/9/10/11/12/13 skeins
or other DK weight yarn to obtain gauge.
GAUGE: 20 sts x 34 rows = 10 cm / 4 inches in
Garter st.

ABBREVIATIONS:
CO/ BO – cast on/ bind off
st(s) – stitch(es)
garter st – k on every row
k/ p - knit/ purl
k4tog – knit 4sts together
kfb – knit into front and back of the st ( 1 st
Increase)
yo – yarn over
tbl – through back loop
Ri – ring increase: k4tog tbl, leave these 4
sts on left needle, yo, k into the same 4 sts
tbl again, yo, k into the same 4 sts tbl again,

pick up bar between stitches from back to

Directions
CO 110/118/126/134/142/150/158/166 sts.

NOTE: slip the first st in each row with yarn in the back when working in garter st.

Work in garter st for 7 rows.

Continue as follows:

NOTE: work Row 1 loosely, or do 3 yo’s instead of 2.

Row 1[RS]: k1, [k1, 2yo] repeat to last st, k1.

Row 2[WS]: k1,*[drop 2yo, slip next st to right needle] 4 times; slip 4 sts back to left needle making
sure they are about same length, Ri (see abbreviations), repeat from * to last st, k1.

= 137/147/157/167/177/187/197/207 sts

Work in garter st for 8 rows, in the last garter st row increase 1/3/1/3/1/3/1/3 sts randomly by
m1r.

Repeat row1 and 2 once more. = 172/187/197/212/222/237/247/262 sts

Work in garter st for 8 rows, in the last garter st row increase 2/3/1/2/0/1/3/0 sts randomly by
m1r.

Repeat row1 and 2 one more time. = 217/237/247/267/277/297/312/327 sts

Work in garter st for 14/12/12/10/10/8/8/8 rows.

Next row[RS]: k37/40/42/45/47/50/53/55, pm, k36/40/41/45/46/50/52/55, pm,


k71/77/81/87/91/97/102/107, pm, k36/40/41/45/46/50/52/55, pm, k37/40/42/45/47/50/53/55.

Row 1: k all sts.

Row 2: k to last st before m, kfb, sm, kfb, repeat from the beginning 3 more times, k to end.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 - 0/1/3/4/6/7/8/9 more times.

= 225/253/279/307/333/361/384/407 sts

Adjust 6 rows to the back length as follows: place all sts to second m on waste yarn, attach new
yarn (don’t cut the old one) and work 6 rows of garter st between second and third markers only.
Cut yarn, place all sts from waste yarn back to main needle. Start next row where the old yarn is.

Dividing Row [WS]: *K to m, remove m, slip next 38/44/49/55/60/66/70/75 sts (all sts to next m)
to waste yarn, remove m, CO 2/2/2/2/2/2/3/3 underarm sts (using backward loop method), repeat
once more from*, k to end. CO more or less underarm sts to adjust the size.

Body section
Continue to work in garter st until body measures 14”(35 cm) from underarm or until desired
length.

BO all sts knitwise on WS.

Sleeve bands (both the same)


With RS facing pick up 38/44/49/55/60/66/70/75 sleeve sts from waste yarn and 6/6/6/6/6/6/7/7
sts from underarm+ adjusted back rows, join to work in the round.

K one round. BO all sts purlwise.

Finishing
Use Ring st holes as button holes. Sew on the buttons at the left front, opposite to button holes.
Weave in all yarn ends. Wet block the cardigan.
