cords around your ba nd and place

foot contrai as illustrnted. Lower
the presser foot. Remove the
embrnide1\ card.
2. Slide the cover over the machine.
Place the main cord in the pocket
of the cm-er. Tbere is also space
pro;-ided for the opera ring ma1mal,
the embroidery accessories and the
other accessories.

Connecting the foot control

Arnong the accessories you will find


the foot control cord and the main
cord.
1. Place the foot control on its
narrow si.de. Fit the plug into the
socket inside the foot control
compartinent.
2. Push it fumly to make sure it is
properly connected. This operntion
is only necessary the very fust time
you are going to use the machine.
3. To conectly tmn away füe cord,
place it into füe slot, see picture.

Note: Before plugging in> check to


ensure that the foot control is of
"type FR4 ".

Connecting to the power supply


On the underside of the machine you will find information about the power
supply and the frequency (Hz). CT1eck the power supply setting in the
machine to ensme that tlus agrees with the ma.in supply before you connect
the machine.
1. Connect the foot control cord to
the fust socket on the bottom
right side o the machine.
2. Connect the main cord to the back
socket on the bottom right si.de
of the machine.
3. \Vhen you press the power
sw:itch, bath the nrn.di.ine and
the light are switched on.

For the USA and Canada
This Se\ving Machine bas a polarized plug (one blade \vider füan the other).
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended ta fit in a polarized
outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit ti.ùly in the outlet, reverse the plug.
If it
still cloes not fit contact a qua.Wied electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not
modify the plug in any way.

Spool pin
The rm1chine has spool pins sui.table
for all types of thread. The main spool
pin (a) is horizontal - the tluead reels
off the stationary spool. Place the
spool so lliat the thread reels coun er
cloch-v.'ise.

There are nvo spool holders on the


spool piu. \'(li.th narr:ow tlu:ead
spools, the srnall holder (b) is placed
in front of the thread. If you use large
thread spools. the large holder (c) is
placed in front of füe thread. Slide
füe correct size spool holder in place
so the fiat sicle is pressed firmly
agaimt the spool wifü no space
between spool bolder and spooL

Tbere is also a separnte vertical


spool pin (d) to be attacl1ed onto the
machine. The fingers on the extra
spool pin fi.t into the two hales ta
the right of the fi_"ed spool pin. Push
dm.\'ll'i\·ard to snap in place. The large
spool holder (c) is placed under the
thread. This spool pin is used when
winding a bobbin from a second spool
of thread or for a second spool when
sewing with a twin needle.

Thread ing the upper thread


& Turn off the main switch.
:Make sure the presser foot is rnised
and the needle is in the up position.
1. Pull the spool pin out. Place the
tluead on the spool pin and the
spool holder on the spool pin as
described. Push the spool pin back
m.
2. Bring the thread in the direction of
the arro\Y under the thread gui.de
(a) aud over t11e thread guide (b).
3. Br:ing the thread down between the
thread tension dises.
4. Continue th.reading by drn\i.:ing the
tb.read from the right into the sfot
on the take-up le\er.
5. Thread last guide jus t abo'e
needle.
6. The needle is tlueaded from front
to back. The white on the presser
foot ankle makes it easy to see the
eye of the needle.
7. Place thread under the presser foot
and into the thread cutter "here it
is eut.

Upper thread warn ·ng


If the npper thread breaks or if thread
spool nms out, the nmchine stops
and gi>·es a signal. The symbol 1-t
is flashing on the display. If thread
breaks: Re-thread the machine. The
symbol goes out. If thread spool
runs out: Remm e your work and
the bobbin. Re-thread the machine..
Replace the bobbin and restart.

Correct and incorrect thread

To unde!fstand the correct thread
tension, sew a few sample stitches at
different settings.
Adjnst tension only with the

Do not turn dial.
1. Begin with a tension that is tao
loose, i.e. set at "1". The lower

MEMORY
The machine has 4 different progrnm memories.
Each memory holds up to 55 stitd1es or lette:rs. Yon
can combine any stitcl1es /letters you \.v:ish \.Yith the
exception of stitches 8- 12.
When selecting PROG or REP, the memory
you fast used will be displayed. Your machine v; ill
remember what you bave programme.cl even when it
is s\vitched off.
Use the buttons marked with anows to advance
ot return w:ithin the memor: to the right and
to the left. These buttons are used in PROG
position when programming and in REP if yon wish
to check what is progrnmm ed or if you wish to start
sewing a few st:itches into the progrnm .

Touch FU C so that PROG is shown on the clisplay. If you already have a
program in the memory this will now be shmvn.
1. Touch CLR to empty the memory. See page 24.
2. Touch :MENU to select the desi1ed menu for your new progrnm (stitch 01
your choice of lette.ring style).
ln this way you can combine different stitches according to your mYn taste and
imagination. \Vith the button you Glll go backwards ta see what you have
progrnmmed.
To sew yom progrnm, touch FUNC to the REP position. The m:ichine \Vill be

The STOP button is used to conclude a stitch prngrnm, i.e. the machine fastens
the thread and stops automatically wheu !be sewing of yom: stitch or letter
combi.nation .is completed. 111e symbol /- is dispbyed to the very r:ight.
You am continue your progrn.mming e\en after having pressed STOP. In
REP position the is displa1ed. Then, when sew:ing the machir e stops
automatically and fastens the thread in every position where you bave
prngrammed STOP and at the end of the stitch combir1ation. Just press
the foot contrnl aga.in and the machine will sew the rest of wbat yon have
prngrnmmed.

Removi ng the Em broi dery


Foot U
& Tum off the main S\Titch.
1. Raise the presser foot le, er.
2. nscrew the presser foot.
3. Remove the presser foot
from behind out of the presser
bar by pushing the presser foot
downward.
4. Insert the presser foot ankle, screw
and tighten. Snap on the desired
presser foot (see page 14) .

Attach the Embroidery

Use the screw driver ta loosen the
screw on the presser foot ankle.
Remove the ankle.
Place the Embroidery Foot ·, from
behind onto the presser foot bar. The
arm of the presser foot should rest on
top of the needle clamp screw. Use
the band wheel to lower the needle
slightly until the foot slides in phace .
Position the foot sa that the hale
on the foot matches the hale on the
presser foot bar.
lnsert the screw and tighten the screw
with the screw dr.iYer.

Embroidery hoop
1. Loosen the screw on the outer
hoop, place the outer hoop sa that
the snew is clown to the right.
2. At the front edge of the hoop

marks. Trace design on template
with pencil .
4. Place the embroidery template on

matching the ones on the fa bric.

Jeans hem
When sewing over seams in extra
heavy fabric or a blne jeans hem, the
foot can tip as the ma.chine climbs
over the seam. The needle rnn lut the
t:ipped foot and break. In this case,
use the clearance plate to balance the
heigbt of the hem as you sew:
Place the clearance plate behind the
foot as you approach the hem and in
front of the foot as you sew over the
hem thickness. Remove the clearance
plate before sewing in to it

Sewing on belt loops


Use presser foot B and lower the
feed teeth. Fold in about l 011on the

short ends. Place he belt loop on the
garment and under the presser foot.
Set a wide zigzag stitch.
Se\\" a bartack from the outer edge
to the center of the loop, move the
material and se\v a new ba1t.ack.
Continue to sew :-along the loop's shmt
side.

Changing the li,ght bulb


Only use light bulbs of a type as
indicated on the front of the machine
(1 V 5 . They are available at your
authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer.

& Tmn off the main sw:itch.

1. Place the light bulb remover


with the deep hale, marked 0
T, around the bulb.
Do not tum the bulb, just pull it
out to remove it.
2. \Vhen inserting a new light bulb
place the remover with the shallow
hole, marked IN, around the
new bulb. lnsert the ne\Y bulb by
pushing it up.

Clean the Bobbin Area


Rer:nove the presser foot ru1d slide
off the bobbi.t1 caver. Lower the feed
teeth. Place the stitch plate opener on
the brush, and then in the recess at the
rear of the stitcb plate. Turn toward
you to pop off the stitch plate. Clean
the eed teeth with the brush.

Cleaning Under the Bobbin Area


When lint builds up, the area nnder the
bobbin case must be cleaned.
Rer:nove the bobbin case holder (1)
covering the front part of the bobbi.t1
case (2). RemoYe the bobbin case by
lifting it up. Clean w:ith the brush.
Rephlce the bobbi.t1 case and tlie
bobbin case holder.

Replacing the Stitch Plate


With feed teeth clown, place the stitch
plate about 5 mm in front o ·the rear
edge and push it back. Slide on the
bobbi.t1 caver. Raise the feed teeth.
