S+ Operations Historian Server Installation of Symphony Plus

• Complete the IIS configuration. Refer to Internet Information Services (IIS) Configuration for details.

Installation of S+ Operations Historian Server


Follow the given steps to install the for S+ Operations Historian Server profile:
1. When the Symphony Plus Installation DVD is inserted into the drive, the Installation AUTORUN screen appears. If it
does not appear, then navigate to the root directory of the DVD and double-click on ABBSystemInstaller.bat.
2. In End User License Agreement (EULA) dialog box, drag the scroll box to read the End User License Agreement
(EULA) and click I agree button (I DO Not Agree will stop the installation process).
3. Select Symphony Plus > Install S+ Operations from the System Installer window.
4. Select S+ Operations Historian Server 3.3 profile check box (refer to Figure 3-94).
5. Click Next.

6. The following Figure 3-95 displays different components of S+ Operations Historian Server installation.

7. Click Next.
8. The Summary displays the setups of the listed components that run sequentially after starting the installation
process.
9. Click Finish.
10. Most of the installation packages are installed by the silent installation process. If some installation packages
require a manual configuration, then follow the instructions as prompted by Install Shield wizard to complete the
installation process.
11. Refer to the section Central Licensing System (CLS) for more information on installing Central Licensing System.
12. The message “Installation completed successfully” appears at the end of the Installation Report.
13. A Confirm reboot message box opens, recommending for a system reboot.
14. Click Yes to reboot the machine.
15. perform Common Post Installation Settings after installation.

Post Installation Settings for S+ Operations Historian Server


Run the following .bat file to add a user:
For Workgroup Environment: (First Step)
The J:\ represent the DVD drive path.

NOTE: Configure the access rights for History folder, Change log on user for required Services, and Configure the
access rights to the registry, after successful installation. Refer to the topic Historian Configuration from S+ Engineering

NOTE: Set the maximum memory limit for the SQL server. Refer to the topic Configuring the MS SQL Server 2016 Mem-
ory from S+ Operations 3.3 History reference user manual (2VAA000724-330) for details.

Event database creation


Refer the topic Installation of Event Management Server/Client from S+ Operations 3.3 History reference user manual
(2VAA000724-330*) to create the Event Database.
Set up the required Event Database objects on the S+ Operations History node. Perform the following procedure:
For Domain Environment
1. Start DBAdmin application in the path: …\Program Files (x86)\ABB Symphony
Plus\Operations\History\PlantConnect.BIN\Events\DBAdmin on first server, click update local server principals
2. Change to create tab and click create local database
3. Logon to second server, start DBAdmin
4. Change to create tab and click create local database using same size as on first server
5. Click create local database redundancy
6. Change to first server and click create local server redundancy
7. Switch to Tab 800xA to import 800xA event mapping, if required.
8. From Security tab, click Update local database principals on both servers
For Workgroup Environment

Plus\Operations\SV3\History\PlantConnect.BIN\Events\DBAdmin on first server, click update local server

2. Start DBAdmin on second server, click update local server principals
3. Change to create tab and click create local database
4. Logon to second server, start DBAdmin
5. Change to create tab and click create local database using same size as on first server
6. Click create local database redundancy
7. Change to first server and click create local server redundancy
8. Switch to Tab 800xA to import 800xA event mapping, if required.
9. Change back to second server and select here also your customized 800xA event mapping
10. From Security tab, click Update local database principals on both servers.
In a non-redundant system the procedure is as the following:
1. Navigate and run the DBAdmin.exe.

2. Click Update local server principals.

3. Select the Create tab:

4. From Security tab, click Update local database principals.


Select the size of the database and choose the location. Typically 1 GB can hold about 800.000 event messages. Refer the
data sheet included in the release note for the maximum allowed size of the database.
The database must be located on the same physical drive in order to allow a good performance. SSD disks are speeding up
all access to the event database (reading and writing).
The above example creates an Event database for 10 GB. Once location and size are decided, click create local
database. In case of redundancy create the redundant database remotely. Ensure to work in a domain/workgroup
environment and SPlusIMEventDBAdmin rights (windows user group) are available.
If required, select the 800xA Mapping tab and click the “Import mapping” button. Confirm to import the mapping.
Now you can close the DB Admin, as the database has been created successfully.

3.4.6 S+ Operations Application Server 3.3 (Web Scheduler and Pocket Portal)
Application Server is used to view the data from S+ Operations along with S+ Historian in a uniform way. The Application
Server displays Events, Displays, Trends, Alarms, and Tags (Process values).
There are two types of users who can access Pocket Portal.
Normal users (Operators): Limited configuration capabilities.
