The Little Lighthouse
The Little Lighthouse
The Little Lighthouse
On the edge of a small coastal town, there stood a little lighthouse. It wasn’t the tallest or the brightest,
but it was loved by everyone in the village. The lighthouse had been there for many years, guiding ships
safely through the treacherous waters at night.
The keeper of the lighthouse was an elderly man named Mr. Thompkins. He had tended to the lighthouse
since he was a young boy. Mr. Thompkins took great pride in keeping the light shining, even on the
stormiest nights.
One day, a terrible storm rolled in. The wind howled, the waves crashed, and the sky was dark with
thunderclouds. The villagers were worried. They knew that without the lighthouse’s light, ships could
crash against the rocks.
As the storm raged on, the light in the lighthouse began to flicker. Mr. Thompkins worked tirelessly, but
he knew the old lighthouse was struggling against the storm’s fury. He decided to climb to the top to see if
he could fix the light.
As he reached the top, he found that the bulb was about to burn out. The storm was too strong for the old
lighthouse to handle alone. Mr. Thompkins knew he needed help. He quickly ran to the village and
gathered all the children.
“Children,” he said, “the lighthouse needs our help. We must work together to keep the light shining.”
The children, excited by the adventure, eagerly agreed. They formed a line from the village to the
lighthouse, passing supplies hand-in-hand. Some brought extra oil, others brought spare parts, and a few
brought food and warm blankets for Mr. Thompkins.
Together, they climbed the lighthouse and helped Mr. Thompkins fix the light. It wasn’t easy. The wind
and rain made it difficult to see, but the children were determined. They knew how important the
lighthouse was to their village.
With everyone working together, they managed to repair the light just in time. The bright beam cut
through the storm, guiding a nearby ship safely to shore. The captain of the ship, grateful and relieved,
thanked Mr. Thompkins and the children for their bravery and teamwork.
The next day, the storm had passed, and the sun shone brightly over the village. The lighthouse stood tall
and proud, its light shining as brilliantly as ever. The villagers gathered to celebrate, knowing that it was
their unity and determination that saved the day.
From that day on, the children often visited the lighthouse, helping Mr. Thompkins with his duties and
learning the importance of working together. The little lighthouse became a symbol of their strength and
community, reminding everyone that even the smallest light can shine the brightest when it’s fueled by
the power of friendship and teamwork.
And so, the little lighthouse continued to guide ships safely home, standing as a beacon of hope and
inspiration for all who saw its light.
