STORY: A DOORWAY TO THE WORLD


PRE-READING
1. Activating Prior Knowledge: Discuss experiences with feelings like sadness,
anger, and happiness. Ask students if they have ever felt experienced in showing
responsibility to other people. Briefly introduce the concept of being responsible
without using the specific term.

2. Building Background Knowledge: Show different pictures that depict


responsibility. Explain the importance of being responsible to achieve goals
and aspirations in life.

3. Introducing Key Vocabulary: Define and discuss words like


“computer”, “video games”, “doorway”, etc. Use pictures to illustrate the
meaning.

4. Setting Reading Goals: Tell students that they will listen to the story and
think about how the boy in the story had learned that there is more to the real
world than the virtual world.

A. DURING READING:
1. Modeling Fluent Reading: Read the story expressively. Pause at key points to
ask questions like: “Are you also addicted to playing games and
computers?” Encourage students to share their thoughts and feelings.

B. POST READING:

1. Reviewing Key Points: Briefly summarize the story, emphasizing the


value of responsibility. Discuss the importance of fulfilling our
responsibilities to make us to become better individuals.

2. Reflecting on Reading Experience: Encourage the learners to share


their experiences in which they have shown responsibility and how this trait
will help them to achieve their goals and aspirations in their lives.
