5. Review

Before we start our new lesson for

today, first let’s review our previous
lesson about Light and Shadow.

Now class, Let’s play the game “FACT OR (Do as told)

BLUFF”
This game is very simple, I will present
sentences and I want you to identify if
the sentence is fact or correct or if it
is a bluff or incorrect.
(Do as told)
Are you ready?
 The main source of heat and light is
the sun.
 Shadows are dark areas formed when
light is blocked by opaque objects.
 Shadows can change their size, shape
and length.
 The change in position and length of
the shadow depends on the angle at
which the light strikes the object.
 When light rays are overhead the
object, it casts a longer shadow.
Wow! Congratulations everyone you
answered it all correctly!
Great Job!

Is there any question regarding our past

lesson?

glasses and umbrellas
7. Statement of the Aim
This morning we will Describe the effects
of the Sun.

8. Presentation

Okay class, I want you to look at this

video before we start our discussion.

(Video presentation)

Sun is the main source of energy. It has

beneficial effects to us humans; however,
it has also harmful effects to us.
The sun gives off heat and light. Too
much exposure to the sun’s heat and light
can be harmful. It can cause sunburn. The
ultra violet rays can damage skin cells
too. Very bright light can also harm our
eyes.
There are some ways of protecting
ourselves from the excessive sun’s heat
and light.
1. Wear a cap or wide brimmed hat
during sunny days.
2. Carry along an umbrella to protect
you from the intense heat of the
sun.
3. Wear sunglasses when playing on
beaches while the sun is too hot
4. Apply sunscreen lotion which
protects your skin from sunburn when
you go for swimming.
5. Wear clothes which protect the skin
of your hand and feet while working
under the heat of the sun (like
gardening, plowing, planting,
harvesting, etc.)
6. Seek out the shade and avoid
exposure during hours of peak
sunlight.
Too much sunlight can make the soil
very dry, hard and cracked. Long sunny
days can cause drought resulting to
stunted growth of plants and scarcity of
water.

Humans are benefited most with the help

of the sun’s heat and light. Housewives
can dry their laundry during sunny days.
Recreational activities are done by
families and friends too on sunny day.
Fishermen can dry “catch” immediately to
preserve them. Farmers dry their crops on
hot warm days.

IV. Application

For me to know if you really understood

our lesson for today. I will divide you
into two groups and each group will have
different activity.

Before we proceed let’s read first our

criteria in scoring your activities.

Everybody read!

Group members work cooperatively by

sharing ideas and delegating group
task to each member.
