2.1 Settings \ Configuration

2.1.1 Road-going
Select ‘Road-going’ when the obstacle detection system is applied to a truck and/or trailer for
example.

Shows the standard ‘Power configuration’ for ‘Road-

going’.

NOTE
For ‘Road-going’ it is mandatory that the control unit
performs a self-test when putting a vehicle into reverse.
Therefore the option ‘Hide self-test during ...’, is not
changeable.

The control unit also performs a self-test at power ON

when ‘3 wires connected’ has been selected.
Date of issue : June 2015

2.1.2 Off-road
Select Off-road when if the obstacle detection system is applied to a wheel-loader for example.

Shows the standard ‘Power configuration’ for ‘Off-road’.

Normally the control unit performs a self-test at Power

ON and when putting a vehicle into reverse. Enabling the
option ‘Hide self-test during ...’, as shown, means that the
self-test will only be performed at power ON.

NOTE
When choosing the ‘Off-road’ a 2 wire configuration is
NOT possible.

2.1.3 Digital input (yellow wire)

The ‘Digital input (Yellow wire)’ field consists of four

options.
A digtal input can be realised with the yellow wire of the
power cable coming from the control unit.

Not used
Select this option when the yellow wire is not connected.
Speed input tachograph (C3/B7)
Select this option when the yellow wire has been connected to the tachograph (C3/B7) of the
vehicle.
According the selected sensor settings the bottom or/and topside sensors will switch OFF above the
set speed.
Speed input pulstransmitter
Select this option and set the number of pulses per kilometer when the yellow wire has been
connected to the pulse transmitter of the vehicle.
According to the selected sensor settings the bottom or/and topside sensors will switch OFF above
the set speed.
Date of issue : June 2015

If the number of pulses per KM is not known do as follows:

1. Set a track on a flat and straight road for exactly 50 meters;
2. Click to reset the counter;
3. Drive exactly the set 50 meter;
4. Stop the vehicle. The counter shows the number of pulses of the 50 meter track;
5. Calculate and set the number of pulses per kilometer:
pulses of measured track x (1000 [meter] / measured track [meter]) = ... pulses per KM

Sensors deactivation switch

Select this option when the yellow wire has been connected to a normally open switch of the
vehicle.
According to the selected sensor settings the bottom or/and topside sensors will switch OFF when
the yellow wire is switched to power.
(This setting was used in the past when the yellow wire was connected to a steering sensor).

2.1.4 Quick reaction

The sensors detect an object. This will be shown to the

driver by the display. After removing the detected object,
the shown information will disappear with or without
delay dependent on the ‘Quick reaction’ setting.
OFF : with a short delay
ON : without delay
For example on forklifts with driving many times
backward for short periods the option without delay is
useful.

WARNING

Do not select the ON option in Road-going applications like trucks and trailers.

2.1.5 Signal supply output

Lockable
The GS2/GS3 control unit has a signal supply output
available.
This option can be useful to switch on for example an extra
alarm lamp when detecting objects.
When the parameter ‘Lockable’ is selected and the sensors
detect an object this output will be activated and is locked
even when you remove the detected object until you switch
off the reverse input of the control.

Not Lockable
When the parameter ‘Not Lockable’ is selected and the sensors detect an object this output will be
activated and is not locked. When removing the detected object the output deactivates.
Red zone only
When the parameter ‘Red zone only’ is selected the signal supply output will only react when
detecting objects in the red zone only.
Date of issue : June 2015

All zones
When the parameter ‘All zones’ is selected the signal supply output will only react when detecting
objects in all zones.

2.1.6 Alarm horn activation

Only when detecting an object
The GS2/GS3 control unit has an external Groeneveld alarm
horn output available. The Alarm horn is mounted outside
your vehicle.
When the parameter ‘Only when detecting an object’ is
selected and the sensors detect an object this alarm horn will
be activated. When removing the detected objects the alarm
horn deactivates automatically.

By activation reverse
When the parameter ‘By activation reverse’ is selected, the Groeneveld alarm horn will be activated
when you activate the reverse input of the GS control unit.

2.1.7 Alarm horn sound levels

Smart level
It is possible to adjust the Groeneveld alarm horn sound
levels. When the parameter ‘Smart level’ is selected the
alarm horn adjusts automatically its sound level according
the noise around your vehicle.
This means with quiet circumstances the Groeneveld alarm
horn adjusts automatically to a lower volume. And to a
higher volume if there is more noise around your vehicle.

Fixed level
When the parameter ‘Fixed level’ is selected you get the possibility to adjust the Groeneveld alarm
horn with a fixed level: High, Medium or Low. The Off position is useful during testing.

2.1.8 Other brand monitor support

There are two GS2 control units available with and without
video processor.
If the GS2 control unit is connected to another brand
monitor for example Orlaco, use the GS2 control unit with
video processor and select ‘Other brand monitor connected’.
After the selection you get the possibility to adjust the noise
of the separate mounted internal buzzer with ‘High’ and
‘Low’. ‘Off’ position is useful during testing. A separate
mounted internal buzzer is needed to warn the driver.

2.1.9 Camera

The GS2 control unit has the possibility to connect a camera.

When a camera is connected to the control unit, check the
camera specification and make sure that you select the right
