ABSTRACT
Double Barrel primarily portrays contemporary society as it exists today. There are killings
everywhere every time we turn on the television, and as President Duterte mentioned,
drugs and drug lords would be fully eradicated from the nation. The genre thrives not
just in the spectacle of violence and destruction but also in its ability to project very
current social despair through the skewed aspirations of their mostly fractured
protagonists. The problem of illegal drugs, while existing during the heyday of action
films, wasn’t exactly as apparent a concern as it is now in this regime that blames all of
its problems to the proliferation of illegal substances. On the awareness of “Oplan
TOKHANG and EJK” among the populace manifested highly effective, hence very
much manageable and can be solve with ease such as conduct of Philippine drug
campaign. This classic Filipino action movie is distinct in style from most western action
films and also action movies from Hong Kong, because of obvious differences in culture
and because the genre is made entirely for local audiences.
INTRODUCTION
Toto Natividad's latest film "Double Barrel" Sige Iputok mo!" has proven that through the
years, he is still the master of Filipino action films. The main cast of the film is led by AJ
Muhlach, Jeric Raval and Phoebe Walker. The movie is rated graded B by MTRCB. A
young, poor couple functioning as hired killers is the subject of the hard-hitting action
film Double Barrel. AJ portrays Jeff, a drug dealer who is apprehended by authorities
after a protracted police operation in a shantytown. Jeff is saved from being killed after
pleading for his life on the condition that he will help the police. He is required to reveal
all drug lords' names he is aware of and assist law enforcement in extrajudicial killings
(EJK). Phoebe portrays Martha, Jeff's wife, who is compelled to participate in the
unrelenting violence because of her love for him. She and her spouse are known as
"mag-asawang birador" because they are armed and shoot down drug dealers. This
Filipino action movie is a form of n extinct genre or style of film which eventually went
out in 1993. A few movies from the middle of the 1990s, such as Moises Arcanghel
and Melencio Magat, attempted to faithfully uphold the traditional aesthetics of the
genre, but the majority of "action" films released from 1993 onward are dishonest and
lacking in artistic integrity, and the majority of the elements that made the genre so
distinctively entertaining were absent from said productions.
FINDINGS
The case study exposed some issues with the way the movie "Double Barrel" was put
into action, particularly with regard to the welfare of the main protagonists.
The public's awareness of "Oplan TOKHANG and EJK" has shown to be quite successful,
making it very controllable and easily solvable, as seen by the success of Philippine
drug campaign.
Because it is the only one that the general public sees, and they do not see it as a story
about victims but rather about perpetrators. Not as a laboratory specimen to be
dissected, like EJK and Tokhang does. and depicted its destruction from that angle. The
moral decline of the Filipino action hero in Jeric Raval's character contrasts with its
physical decline in AJ Muhlach's, with the female variant serving as the future, although
one constrained to domesticity. Although there are some excellent photos here (such
as children perched atop public gravestones and adults standing on an elevated
place in front of their shanties while observing the city), the technical aspects could
have been enhanced.
Of all the indicators found in the analysis of the movie "Double Barrel," there is a
significant impact on the campaign against illegal drugs in the Philippines, which was
launched in a highly effective scheme. This implies that the campaign against illegal
drugs had been greatly improved and had achieved success in just six months,
demonstrating a highly effective scheme.
CONCLUSION
Double Barrel's existence in this time as a reflection of how morally ambiguous society
has grown, given the never-ending debate about the morality of the current
administration's drug war in comparison to the supremacy of human rights, may be its
most intriguing aspect.
