About CPE Configurations v2
1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1. Motto
To Reach and Monitor beyond the ONTs to ensure better End User experience in BSNL FTTH Service
1.2. Target
All the FTTH ONTs of the entire BSNL network are to be enabled with TR069 Service and get connected
with the Bridle ACS Server.
1.4. Challenges
One time entry of ACS details needs to be entered in all the ONTs and TR069 Service to be enabled. This
is possible only through the Native GUI of the ONTs as all devices are firewall enabled and remote access
is blocked through Internet. This update is not possible for all ONTs even through OLTs of same make. It
would be time consuming and require more man power to configure all the ONTs.
1.5. Methodology
It is planned to configure the ONT’s through the following groups.
On login to the ONT, the following parameters are to be set in the ACS Page for the ONTs to
report to the ACS. The Menu location may differ as WANRemote or WANCWMP or
NetworkTR069 in different ONT Makes.
Franchisees can go ahead with manual configuration of CPEs enabling ACS parameters.
Enabling TR069 service with ACS settings is mandatory to complete Service Order in FMS.
Creation of Voice Service is optional as this will be taken care by ACS if not done. While doing
WAN configuration one must ensure the below parameter.
After successful authentication of ONTs either with default credentials or actual credentials, it is
necessary to ensure that the ONT is reporting to ACS after getting IP Address. This can be
ensured from the status page of TR069/CWMP/Remote with a report that Upload Success or
Inform Success.
(See Annexure III for TR069 reporting status of different ONT models)

Also inside the work order there is a new parameter "ACS Status" is added.
Once ONT is connected, FMS will validate the MAC and if valid, FMS will send back
customer credentials for configuration and enables SUBMIT button in FMS. The popup
window will be changed as below.
BNG Configuration
Homogenous ONT
Step 2: Finding Userid, ont credentials and firewall level from these ONTs. For this we
have to run 3 commands in OLT.
For ex: If the ont is 0/1/1(Interface 0/1 and onu id 1) the following commands are used.
# config t
<config># interface gpon 0/1
<config-pon-0/1># onu 1 pri wan_adv
<config-pon-0/1># onu 1 pri username
<config-pon-0/1># onu 1 pri firewall
We will get the bb username, ont login credentials and firewall level from these
commands’ outputs as shown below.
BB username
Firewall level
Step 3: Lowering the firewall and enabling wan port for a particular IP. Through this IP,
we will access the ONT’s home page. For lowering firewall we will run this command.
<config-pon-0/1># onu 1 pri firewall level low
After lowering the firewall to low level, we will run this command for opening wan port
to a particular IP and Port. For ex: if we want to access ONT from 117.242.10.17 through
port 8080 the command will be :
<config-pon-0/1># onu 1 pri acl http control enable lan enable wan enable ipv4_control
enable 117.242.10.17 255.255.255.255 ipv6_control disable port 8080
Step 4: Find the connected IP of the respective userid from BNG. The IP can be obtained
from BNG’s userid status query.
Step 5: Login into the ONT using the public IP obtained from step 4. For ex: if the userid
bsnlftth@ftth.bsnl.in is connected with IP 59.62.25.47 then we will open the home page
of ont 0/1/1 from the PC having the internet IP 117.242.10.17 as
http://59.62.25.47:8080
Login into the ONT with the login credentials we got from step-2 and enter ACS
parameters in the ONT. Once it is saved successfully, then internet configuration of wan
service page is opened. Here we will change the service mode as TR069_INTERNET
instead of INTERNET. Now the connection will be disconnected and we will lose the
ONT’s home page. The ONT will start reporting to ACS within few seconds.

Step 6: Disabling wan port and changing the firewall to high. After successful completion
of step-5, the wan port of the ONT should be disabled and firewall level must be set to
high. For this, the following commands are given in OLT.
<config-pon-0/1># onu 1 pri acl http control enable lan enable wan disable port 80
<config-pon-0/1># onu 1 pri acl http control disable
<config-pon-0/1># onu 1 pri firewall level
The above steps, except step-5, can be programmed with suitable programming
languages like Python.
6.2. Infrastructure
OLT Access privileges for NOC Team
PCs with Shared Internet Connection for the staff with a Static IP
6.3. Workforce
1 or more Staff from NOC for OLT Configuration
3 or more supporting staff at TTA or above level for ONT Configuration
6.4. Responsibilities
6.4.1. NOC Team
a. Identification of OLT IPs
b. Categorization of the ONTs in each OLTs as compatible (for online configuration) and
non-compatible (from customer premise/ remote access).
c. Models are sorted out from each port by ont info command
d. Through OLT, Enabling WAN access in the ONTs and restricting access only from the
static IP. Setting firewall to LOW. (Script may be obtained from CNOC, TVM)
e. Preparing and Sharing the List of ONTs ready for configuration to the Team for
online configuration.
f. On completion of ONT configuration, restoring the firewall status after verifying the
reporting of the ONTs in the ACS.
g. Preparing &sharing the non-configurable ONTs list.
6.4.2. Supporting Staff Team
a. Configure all the ONTs in the List shared by NOC through Internet from Static IP.
b. Reattempting the non-reachable ONTs few more times.
c. Reporting the Status with feed back to NOC.
7.0 Plan-E: Configuration of ONTs by getting Remote Access from the Customers.
Whenever, a customer is approaching NOC or BBC, efforts may be made to get the
remote access from the customer and ACS parameters shall also be configured in the
ONT’s.
The configuration requirements for the ONT’s shall be as per para 2.0
