the value of c is

(a) 1 (b) 0 (c) -1 (d) √2

7. Two lines are given to be parallel. The equation of one of these lines is
5x - 3y = 2. The equation of the second line can be :

(a)- 15x - 9y = 5 (b) 15x + 9y = 5 (c) 9x - 15y = 6 (d) - 15x + 9y =

5

8. Three numbers in A.P. have the sum 30. What is its middle term ?

(a) 4 (b) 10 (c) 16 (d) 8

DIRECTION: In the question numbers 19 and 20, a statement of Assertion
(A) is followed by a statement of Reason (R). Choose the correct option:

(a) Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are true and Reason (R) is the
correct explanation of Assertion(A).

(b) Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are true and Reason (R) is not the
correct explanation of Assertion (A).

c) Assertion (A) is true but Reason (R) is false.

(d) Assertion (A) is false but Reason (R) is true.

9. Assertion: The 10th term of the A.P. 4, -1, -6, -11, ... is - 41.

Reason: If Sn is the sum of first n terms of an A.P., then its nth term is
givenby

an=Sn-Sn-1-

10. Assertion (A): If the graph of a polynomial touches x-axis at only one
point, then the polynomial cannot be a quadratic polynomial.

Reason (R): A polynomial of degree n(n > 1) can have at most n zeroes.

11. Find the largest number which on dividing 1251, 9377 and 15628
leaves remainders 1, 2 and 3 respectively.

OR

Show that the number 5 x 11 x 17 + 3 x 11 is a composite number.

12. If alpha and ẞ are the zeroes of the polynomial p(x) = kx² - 30x + 45k
and alpha+ beta = alpha*beta then find the value of k

13.Is 0 a term of the A.P. : 31, 28, 25, ... ? Justify your answer.

14.Prove that √2 is an irrational number.

15. If the sum of first 7 terms of an A.P. is 49 and that of first 17 terms is
289, find the sum of its first 20 terms.

OR

The ratio of the 10th term to its 30th term of an A.P. is 1 : 3 and the sum
of its first six terms is 42. Find the first term and the common difference of
A.P.

16. Find the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial x² - 15 and verify the
relationship between the zeroes and the coefficients of the polynomial.

17.Solve the following system of linear equations graphically and find the
area of triangle formed on x axis x-y+1=0 x+y=5
18.In a flight of 2800 km, an aircraft was slowed down due to bad
weather. Its average speed is reduced by 100 km/h and by doing so, the
time of flight is increased by 30 minutes. Find the original duration of the
flight.

19.Your friend wants to buy a car and plans to take a loan from a bank for
his car. He repays his total loan of ₹ 1,18,000. He pays every month
starting with the first instalment of ₹ 1,000 and he increases the instalment by₹ 100
every month (4)

Based on the above information, answer the following questions :

(i) Find the amount paid by him in 30th instalment. 1

(ii) Find the amount paid by him in 30 instalments. 1

(iii) Find the total number of instalments paid to repay his total loan
amount. 2

Or

Find the ratio of first and last installment.

20. A coaching institute of Mathematics conducts classes in two batches I

and II and fees for rich and poor children are different. In batch I, there are
20 poor and 5 rich children, whereas in batch II, there are 5 poor and 25
rich children. The total monthly collection of fees from batch I is 9000 and
from batch II is 26,000. Assume that each poor child pays rupees x per
month and each rich child pays y per month.
