Course Outline
Academic Year: 2024-25 (ODD SEMESTER)
Pre-requisites: Student has not opted and studied the subject earlier in any semester
1. Course Introduction:
Photography is an incredible art form that allows learners to freeze moments in time and capture the
beauty of the world around us. In this course, we will explore the technical aspects of using a
camera/phone, such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and focusing. You'll learn how to master these
settings to achieve the desired exposure and creative effects. However, photography is about much
more than technical proficiency. It's a means of visual storytelling and self-expression. We'll dive into
compositional techniques, lighting strategies, and the art of "seeing" like a photographer to help you
create compelling and meaningful images.
Throughout the course, students cover various genres of photography, including portraiture, landscape,
street photography, and more. Learners will have opportunities to practice their skills through
assignments and in-class shooting sessions, receiving feedback to help you improve.
2. Course Outcomes:
CO2: Make use of conceptual approaches in order to create experiential and interactive sort of
outcome.
CO3: Construct new contextual meanings through juxtaposition and layering of different kinds of
ideas/forms into new visual formats and expressions.
CO4: Invent new visual formats through manipulation and deconstruction of a given medium going
beyond its original shape or dimensions.
3. Lecture Plan (Minimum 10 Sessions)
Students would be assessed continuously at three assessment points during the course. Course
assessment is based on a student’s activity (records/ evidence of his/her performing and learning).
Internal Assessment I and II, each of 30 marks is mandatory (i.e. total internal assessment of 60
marks). Depending upon the subject, the Internal assessments can be
assignments/Presentation/viva/any project work or in any other form or a combination of 2 modes of
assessment.
Faculty is required to mandatorily keep a record of both assessments, as they shall be mapped in ERP
accordingly. Faculty should share with students the assessment criteria and the lesson plan in initial
classes so that there is no ambiguity with regards to the same.
External Assessment: For the final (40 marks) assessment, the final viva shall take place as per date
announced in datesheet. A panel of faculty will Judge the knowledge and understanding of the subject.
