FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How can I extend storage on FortiRecorder?
• The FortiRecorder appliance has HD bays that you can fill with replacement disks.
• For VM instances it depends on the amount of storage that the host platform provides.
• You can add external storage as NAS via NFS or iSCSI. USB is available on the appliance models for very small installations.
How do I get face recognition on FortiRecorder?
• You can license FortiRecorder 400F and VM models to run face recognition analytics.
• Each FortiRecorder comes with one face recognition channel available for trial. It is limited to a seven-day history and requires internet access for
downloading the analytics module.
• It requires an active FortiGuard AI DB service license.
• The license activates up to two analytics channels for appliances and theoretically unlimited for VM installations, although the CPU load restricts the usable
number.
• If the license is expired or invalid, only the last seven days of face recognition data (face cluster, face timeline, events, and activity) display.
• License activation requires internet access for the recorder. After initial license verification and analytics module download, face recognition works without
Internet connection for the license duration.
What are FortiCentral Analytics?
FortiCentral is the free video management system for FortiCameras. It offers a range of professional features for manned and forensic video surveillance.
Included are AI modules that use DNN technology to perform:

• Face recognition
• Object detection
• Mask detection
• Occupancy control
The FortiCentral application is available for download.

Is there a sizing guide for VM installations? FortiRecorder?

Although you can stack VM licenses for up to 1000 cameras, this is a theoretical limit due to the host platform CPU and bandwidth constraints. Practically,
partitioning larger installations into clusters of <250 cameras is best practice. For information and sizing guidelines, contact the FortiCamera CSEs.

How can I view video from FortiCameras?

What licensing do I need for FortiCamera Cloud?
Each camera available in FortiCamera Cloud portal requires an active annual subscription. You can order FC1-10-FCCLD-518-02-DD for any number of units
and in 1-3-5 year terms.

FortiRecorder supports a hybrid mode where cameras connected to a FortiRecorder are available and managed through the FortiCamera Cloud portal.
A FortiRecorder Cloud Mode license (SKU:FRC-CLM-20) is required in this case. This is a one-time perpetual license. Each active camera requires the
subscription FC1-10-FCCLD-518-02-DD.

Does FortiCamera Cloud store data in the cloud?

All videos are stored in FortiCamera Cloud cameras for fast access. For hybrid model, videos can be stored in an onsite FortiRecorder NVR.

Does FortiCamera Cloud offer video analytics?

FortiCamera FD55-CA is a cloud AI camera performing edge based person, face and vehicle detection. FortiCameraCloud portal supports searching for
people and faces based on appearance or attributes.
