LAC REFLECTION JOURNAL

DATE: January 14,2023

TOPIC: : Designed, Adapted, And Implemented Teaching Strategies For
Diverse Learners

INSIGHTS OR REALIZATONS:

It emphasized the importance of recognizing the unique strengths

and abilities of each student and creating an inclusive learning
environment. It encouraged participants to embrace diversity and create
a supportive environment that caters to the specific needs of their
students. Practical techniques and examples, such as personalized
learning plans and differentiated instruction, that can be implemented
to ensure each student's success were also discussed and showcased
various tools and resources that can empower students and provide
equal opportunities for learning.
LESSON LEARNED:
I learned that we, as teachers, ensure that we apply the same goals
that are pursued by all students while implementing customised
instruction. For each student, we should provide a diagnostic test and
establish a baseline. Next, group students with comparable
requirements together and offer them a suitable activity. Give the
student the ability to select and evaluate their areas of weakness.
Differentiated education in the classroom gives struggling students the
chance to catch up while allowing gifted students to learn at a quicker
rate. Teachers should make necessary adjustments to provide high-
quality instruction and be sensitive to the requirements of the students.

TOPIC: ADAPTED AND CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE TEACHING

INSIGHTS OR REALIZATONS:

The presentation emphasized the need to move beyond a

monoculture approach and adapt teaching strategies that reflect and

honor indigenous cultures. It also discussed the historical and systemic
challenges faced by indigenous learners and the importance of creating
safe and supportive classroom environments. The presenter also
highlighted the unique needs, experiences, and strengths of indigenous
learners.

LESSON LEARNED:
I learned about the discussion is, we as a teacher will not
confine IP learners to their own culture and vocabulary, but also
introduced the culture and vocabulary of the non-IP community, and the
same is true for the non-IP learners in the class. This is demonstrated by
the IP learners' receptiveness to the culture and the stronger presence
of contextualization in our curriculum. In this discussion is one way of
demonstrating to us how to give all of our pupils a proper and valid
assessment test, regardless of their community groupings. It also
demonstrates how differently IP learners may see information and ideas
taught in the classroom. In order for teaching, instruction, and
assessment for this type of learners to be successful, the tasks of the
learners must enable them to function in society and enable them to use
their own culture and environment. For the IPs, the elders and
community are very fundamental to their existence. Lastly, I learned
that we should always keep in mind that the assessment approach must
be in line with the teaching strategy in order to truly assess whether the
lesson's objectives, which are based on the competencies required by
our curriculum, are being met. Given that these students represent the
future of our nation, we must make all aspects of our lesson culture-
sensitive, inclusive, and conducive to their learning in order to meet the
learning needs of our students in Indigenous Groups.
