The book is written by Sir Aslam Zaiai, the book covered very vast topics of Old Testament which we
almost forgotten in our lives as Christians. After thorough study of text, I come to know that it
emphasizes on importance of Old Testament. I love his words when he said: “old and new testaments
are like two lips”. It means we never understand New Testament without having knowledge of old,
because we will never produce voice by just one lip, we have to use both to speak. Even Jesus Christ
had full grip on Old Testament he quoted many verses from it most of time Luke:16-17. It is full of
wisdom because 1st 5 books are books of law but from the book of Jobs-Ecclesiastes we can see the
ocean of wisdom. We can see many revelations about Jesus and angels because revelation is not just
about future it also provides us clarity about existing thing like angels, beasts and things happening in
the world. We can see lots of explanations in Old Testament about family life and joint family system.
System of marriage and most common issues that we are facing in these days too homosexuality in both
male and female. Its talks about the plans of God are different from our plans as we can see the story of
Abraham and Sarah. They thought they will never get a child but God gave them that impossible gift.
The ultimate covenant of God is there with Abraham which is also foundation of Jewish nation.

Many prophets prophesized about Christ as we see Acts3: 25-26 and Isiah8:04 etc. the fulfillment of
prophecies happened in New Testament but the foreshadow of Christ is there. Moses is the ultimate
foreshadow of Christ in Exodus he is Redeemer, Deliverer and Leader. After reading this book we can
understand that Old Testament is the ultimate source of new beginning of humanity after destruction
and how God’s grace is always with us in many ways like cloud, flame of fire and another covenant
with Noah that he will never destroy human again with water. Flame is something which can burn and
cloud is something which brings rain and cool everything down. These two faces of God we can see in
Old Testament.

David and Solomon are two great kings in Old Testament we can see that how God lifted the David
from pit to Throne and how He gave him success after success and promised him that his crown will
last forever and his nation will never fall. We can see another covenant of God with David also. We can
see five major covenants in Old Testament which God fulfilled. David wanted to make temple for God
but God wanted his Son (Solomon) to build that temple. Solomon was called most wise king in Old
Testament because instead of money he asked for Wisdom to God and in the result God gave him wealth
and power also. We can see United Kingdom there under the throne of King Solomon but when he fell
in Sins and started betraying God by his actions. He attracted towards the idols of his wives from pagans
and started worshipping them and in the punishment, God took his hand away from him and his empire
fell down. His son Rehoboam also follow the footsteps of his father and abandoned the law and in the
result kingdom divided into two northern and southern.

10 tribes accumulated in northern kingdom and called Israel and southern kingdom was made up of 2
tribes and called Juda.

Then these kingdoms further seized by Asor and Babal and went to slavery and dispersed in the world
like Mesopotamia and other countries.

Things I like:
There are many things in this book which I like and admire the 1st one is that “we stand in the respect
of Gospels but all the Bible deserves same respect and love”.

Old Testament and New Testament are lips of Bible. We can only understand the Bible when both lips
will work together, one lips is unable to produce sound. We have to overcome the myths that all
untrained preachers told us that Old Testament is not the era of grace and after gospels we don’t need

it, its totally illogical. There is the love in Old Testament, there is the grace, there is the promises and
fruits and everything which we need to be relax and put Trust on God. We can see that many times
Israelites sin against God their redeemer and left him for idols but God always have mercy on them and
never left them. In the flame and in the cloud He always leaded them. God sometimes punished them
but it was also for the betterment of whole nation. God loves his nation because for whom the Lord
loves, he chastens, and scourges every son whom he receives. (Heb.12:6). He punished them to
discipline them.

On page 146 he talked about blameless lamb or lamb without blemish whose blood will save the nation
of Israelites, they putted the blood of lamb on their doorsteps and God didn’t kill them. This is the real
shadow of Jesus Christ because only the sinless can sacrifice his life for sinner. There are many places
in Old Testament where we can see prophecies and foreshadow of Jesus Christ. Moses is also the living
foreshadow of Christ. Moses was also a Prophet, law giver, redeemer, deliverer. This book has simple
but strong language which effect directly on heart of reader there are many things in this book which
are new for me.

Things I don’t like:

The content was very good but I always forget dates and there are hundreds of dates in this book which
are difficult to remember.

Conclusion:
I didn’t find anything useless in it all the material provided in it is very important it tells us everything
about history in correct order. The history is very important, we have to know the glorious history of
our ancestors which we have completely forgot. Great nations have great history and great books are
assets. I can say that Tafheem e Ahad e Ateeq is great asset for understanding Old Testament and history
in correct sequence.
