Materials:

✨KERMIT THE FROG✨


- For the body pieces (arms, legs, head and torso) I used a 4mm hook. For the eyes and
the neck piece, I used a 3.25mm hook.
- White, green, light green yarn
- Black embroidery thread or fabric paint

Body Legs and arms (make two of each)

1. Form a magic ring, sc 6 inside 1. Ch 5

2. (Inc) x6 (12) 2 - 21. Hdc in each st (20 rows)

3. (Inc, sc) x6 (18) 22. Sc and in the same st, ch 3. Slst in


last ch from hook and slst in the sc spot.
4. (Sc, inc, sc) x6 (24) Sc in the next st and ch3. Slst in last
ch and slst in the sc spot. Repeat until
5. (Inc, sc 3) x6 (30) end of row. Fasten off.

6. (Sc 2, inc, sc 2) x6 (36) For arms, follow the same steps but
make arms two rows shorter.
7. (Inc, sc 5) x6 (42) (Kermit has five fingers but I prefer four.
You can make five fingers by ch 6 instead
8. (Sc 3, inc, sc 3) x6 (48) of 5.)

9-13 Sc in each st (5 rounds) Eyes (make two)

14. (Sc 3, dec, sc 3) x6 (42) 1. Form a magic ring, sc 6 inside

15. Sc around 2. (Inc) x6 (12)

16. (Sc 5, dec) x6 (36) 3. (Sc 5, inc) x2 (14)

17. (Sc 2, dec, sc 2) x6 (30) 4-5. Sc in each st

18-20 Sc in each st (3 rounds) 6. (Sc 5, dec) x2 (12)

21. (Sc 3, dec) x6 (24) 7. Dec x6 (6)

22. (Sc 1, dec, sc 1) x6 (18) Sew hole closed and embroider eyes.

23-25 Sc around (3 rounds) Fasten off.


Neck piece (lighter green than rest of piece)

1. With a smaller hook, ch 35 and slst to first st to form a ring

2. Sc in each st

3. Hdc 5

4. Ch1 and turn work. Hdc 3 and dec

5. Ch1 and turn work. Hdc 4

6. Ch1 and turn work. Hdc 2 and dec

7. Ch1 and turn work. Hdc 3

8. Ch1 and turn work. Hdc 1 and dec

9. Ch1 and turn work. Hdc 2

10. Ch1 and turn work. Dec

11. Ch1 and turn work. Hdc 1 and ch1. Fasten off leaving an inch long tail.

12. You should have one triangle. With a new piece of yarn, create a slip knot and attach it
to the last st of row 4. Sc in mentioned stitch to attach. Hdc 5 st to create a new base for
the second triangle. Repeat steps 3-12 until you have seven points. Do not cut yarn on
the last triangle.

13. With the working yarn of the last triangle, sc around the border of all the triangles. Put
three sc in each corner, then fasten off. This piece will look best if blocked!
Head

1. Ch 7, sc in each st. Turn work counterclockwise and work on the bottom part of chain.
Sc 4 along the bottom. (10)

2. Inc, sc 1, (inc, sc 2) x2, inc, sc 1 (14)

3. Sc 2, inc, sc 5, inc, sc 5 (16)

4. Sc 1, inc, sc 3, inc, sc 4, inc, sc1, inc, sc 3 (20)

5. (Sc 2, inc) x2, sc 4, (inc, sc 2) x2, sc 4 (24)

6. (Sc 3, inc) x6 (30)

7. Sc 2, (inc, sc 5, inc, sc 7) x2 (34)

12. In backloops only, (sc 2, dec) x4, sc 1. In both loops, sc 21 (34)

13. In backloops only, (sc 3, dec) x2, sc 1, dec. In both loops, sc 21 (31)

14. In backloops only, (sc 4, dec, sc 2, dec). In both loops, sc 21 (29)

15. In backloops only, sc 9. In both loops, sc 20 (29)

Assembly

To shape the head, sew along the top to pull the sides together to get a pointy shape. Do
this step after you stuff the head. Head shaping is not necessary!!

The placement of the arms and legs doesn’t matter much, but I placed my legs closer to
the front of the body instead of at the sides. The legs are placed between row 8 and 9
and are about 14 stitches apart.
The arms are on row 22 and are about 7 stitches apart.
The placement of Kermit’s eyes is tricky. I would suggest that you look at pictures of the
real thing to get it right.
