Activity 1: Trend vs. Fad Case Study

Trend: Plant Diets

Plant-based diets, especially Veganism have gained increasing popularity over the past
decide. This trend is largely driven by health concerns, environmental awareness, and
ethical considerations around animal welfare

Longetivity: The plant-based movement has been growing steadily for over a decade Major
food companies and restaurants have embraced plant-based options, making them widely
available and normalizing the dietary choice. This trend is expected to continue, with more
innovations in plant-based alternatives.

Impact:

The impacts of Veganism are:

1.Environmental: Plant-based diets are linked to reducing carbon footprints, water usage,
and deforestation.

2.Economic: The rise of plant-based alternatives has created a new market for products
such as Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods. Traditional food companies have started
incorporating plant-based products into their offerings.

3.Cultural: Veganism is no longer seen as niche or extreme, and celebrities, influencers, and
athletes have played a role in mainstreaming the diet.

Characteristics:

It is adaptable and long-lasting due to growing consumer demand for ethical and health-
conscious choices. It is also a continuous rise in adoption due to cultural shifts, scientific
research, and better product availability. Constant development of new products and
alternatives like plant-based meats, dairy-free options, and lab-grown foods.

Fad: Pokèmon GO (2016)

Pokémon GO, is a mobile augmented reality (AR) game, became a global sensation in 2016.
Players used their smartphones to capture virtual Pokémon in real-world locations, leading
to a temporary cultural phenomenon.

Longevity: Pokémon GO enjoyed an immense surge in popularity during the summer of

2016, but interest rapidly declined after a few months. While the game still exists, it never
regained the same level of mass interest.

Impact: In cultural, Pokémon GO united millions of players worldwide, creating

spontaneous gatherings and social interactions. However, it had no long-term cultural
effects beyond the gaming community. In economic, there was a large economic impact,
with increased revenue for Niantic, the game’s developer, and local businesses benefiting
from player foot traffic. However, this tapered off as player interest declined. Lastly in social,
it encouraged people to be active and explore their communities but was short-lived, with
many users abandoning the game after its initial novelty wore off.

Characteristics:

Short-Lived: The peak lasted only a few months, and while the game persists, it never
returned to its initial popularity.
Novelty-Driven: The appeal was largely due to the new experience of AR gaming, which had
not been widely available in mobile games before.

Activity 3: SWOT Analysis of Local Network

SWOT Analysis of Local Network

Strengths:

- Stable Internal Communication: The network works well for communication between
teams. Example: Smooth video calls and file sharing between departments.

-Good IT Support: Skilled IT team to handle network issues. Example: Quick fixes when the
network has problems or needs upgrades.

- Flexible Setup: Easy to adjust the network to meet specific needs. Example: Prioritizing
certain tasks or departments for faster internet speed.

Weaknesses:

- Poor External Connectivity: Issues with connecting to external partners or clients.

Example: Calls or meetings with clients are often disrupted or slow.

-High Maintenance Costs: Expensive to keep the network running smoothly.

Example: Frequent repairs and upgrades taking up the IT budget.

-Outdated Security: Security measures aren’t as strong as they should be.

Example: The network may be vulnerable to new cyber threats.

Opportunities:

-5G Technology: 5G can improve internet speed and device connectivity. A faster internet
and better connection for more devices.

-Better ISP Deals: You can negotiate with internet providers for better service and
prices.Faster internet at a lower cost.

-Network Virtualization: Switch to virtual systems to save money and improve flexibility. Less
reliance on physical equipment and easier scaling.

Threats:

-More Network Traffic: As the business grows, the network may slow down. For example: Too
many devices connected can cause slow speeds and downtime.

-Cyber Attacks: Risk of hacking or other online threats. For example: Data breaches could
hurt the business and its clients.

-New Regulations: New rules on data protection could require costly upgrades. For example:
Stricter security laws could mean expensive changes to your network.

Activity 4: Network Strategy Plan

There is a lot you can do for an improvement of your local network which are by meeting new
people, connect with individuals from different areas. Strengthen existing connections,
build stronger relationships with the people you already know. Raise your profile, make your
work more visible to others in your network. Collaborate with others, work together with your
contacts on projects or events. By applying these tactics, you can build an improvement
within your local network that benefits the community.

Activity 5: Global Labor Market Analysis

Report on the Current State on the Global Market

The global labor market is changing rapidly due to various factors. Global unemployment is
around 5.5%. Developed countries have lower rates (about 4-5%), while many developing
nations face higher rates (over 10%). In Major Industries jobs in Al, cybersecurity, and
software are growing. In healthcare, healthcare workers is high due to aging populations and
pandemic impacts. In green Energy, renewable energy jobs, like in solar and wind, are
increasing. In remote work, more people are working from home, creating new job
opportunities in digital tools and virtual collaboration.

Activity 6: Migration’s Effect on Global Workforce Skills

The Impact of Migration on Global Workforce Skills and Labor Market Dynamics

Migration, or people moving from one country to another, changes the way skills are spread
across the world. Some people move for better jobs or higher pay, while others move to
escape problems in their home country. High-Skilled workers are people with advanced
skills, like doctors, engineers, or tech experts. When they move to another country, they help
that country by bringing in their talent. Low-Skilled Workers on the other hand are people
who do jobs like farm work, construction, or cleaning. Many of them move to countries that
need more workers in these areas. Migration affects the global workforce by moving skills
around. High-skilled workers boost innovation in the countries they move to, while sending
countries might suffer from losing talent. Low-skilled workers fill important jobs, and their
home countries benefit from the money they send home. Understanding this helps countries
plan for their job markets and ensure everyone benefits.

Activity 7: Climate Change Solution Research

Climate change is a major global challenge caused by greenhouse gas emissions.

Addressing it requires various strategies to reduce emissions and build resilience. There are
solutions to prevent climate change by using renewable energy like solar, wind, and
hydropower helps cut carbon emissions. Renewable energy is becoming cheaper and more
widespread. Countries like Denmark generate nearly 50% of their electricity from wind.
Planting trees absorbs carbon dioxide, helping reduce greenhouse gases. Reforestation can
capture large amounts of carbon. And using energy more efficiently in homes, industries,
and transport can cut emissions. To combat the climate change, applying these examples
can make our environment clean and a better place to live.

Activity 8: Climate Change Policy Analysis

The Paris Agreement, made in 2015, aims to keep global warming below 2°C, ideally 1.5°C,
by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, helping countries adapt to climate change, and
providing financial support to developing nations. Countries set their own climate goals,
called NDCs, and update them every five years, while richer countries promised $100 billion
each year to help poorer nations fight climate change. However, the world is not on track to
meet the 1.5°C goal, and current targets could lead to a 2.4°C to 2.7°C temperature rise.
Some countries are cutting emissions, but progress is slow, especially because poorer
countries lack funding. To improve, countries need stronger climate goals, more financial
help, clean energy investment, and better cooperation between nations, businesses, and
local communities. These changes could help the world meet the Paris Agreement’s goals
and better control global warming.
