TRACK 2.97
Max: Excuse me, can you help me?
Emily: Sure.
Max: Where’s the gym?
Emily: It’s at the end of the corridor, next to the library.
Max: Thanks, I think I’m late for PE ...
Emily: Are you a new student?
Max: Yes, I’m in class 5C. I’m Max.
Emily: Nice to meet you. I’m Emily and I’m in 5C too! But PE is tomorrow and it’s in the playground.
Today, we’ve got computing at nine o’clock and then history, art and English.
Max: You’re right! It’s Monday today, not Tuesday ... Oh, no ... Is there a shop at school?
Emily: Well, there is a small tuck shop, but it isn’t open on Mondays. What do you need?
Max: Some crayons for art ...
Emily: We must only bring some paper today. There’s a lot of paper in my bag because I’ve got
Technology Club at two o’clock, after English. I can give you some.
Max: Thanks, Emily. What else do I need to know?
Emily: Well ... We mustn’t eat in the classrooms. Oh, and we mustn’t run in the main hall.
Max: Oh, that’s easy.

TRACK 2.98
Liz: Diego! I’m here!
Diego: Hi, Liz, sorry I’m late.
Liz: That’s OK, but let’s hurry up. We need to buy snacks for everyone.
Diego: Don’t worry. There’s some spinach and tomatoes at home. We can mix them together to
make a salad.
Liz: And we can add some tofu. Let’s just buy some crisps.
Diego: I don’t think it’s a good idea. Look, there's a lot of salt and fat in them.
Liz: What about these vegetable crisps? We can serve them with a bowl of hummus ...
Diego: Sounds good! I know! Can you go and get some avocados and carrots?
Liz: No problem ... But what for?
Diego: We can slice the carrots and have them with some avocado dip.
Liz: But we don’t have much time to cook ... And we need to buy some paper plates. How many
do we need?

Diego: I think ten plates are OK. Can we also buy three cartons of juice?
Liz: But there are six cans of coconut water at home. Do we need the juice?
Diego: No, we don’t, you’re right. So, let’s pay and go home.

TRACK 2.99

1
I study hard so it’s difficult to see friends after school. But I go to the Football Club with Peter on
Tuesdays, and I often meet Ann and Josh at the weekend. We usually go to the cinema or play games.

2
I love drawing. I try to do it regularly, at least twice a week. I also go to the Art Club at my school. It
helps me relax and make new friends.

3
Hi, Emily. I’m still at work. Can you take Lucky for a walk? You can go to the park. He loves running
there. Oh, and don’t forget his favourite ball. Thanks!

4
I think cooking is OK, but I always make a lot of mess. There are pieces of food and rubbish
everywhere, so I need to wash the table, the floor, the cupboards ...

5
Man: Oh no!
Girl: What’s wrong?
Man: The dishwasher doesn’t work. Look at all those mugs, bowls and plates. We need to wash
them. Can you help?
Girl: Sure, dad. Let’s do it together.

TRACK 2.100
Mark: Hi, Emma. Can you talk?
Emma: Sure. What’s up?
Mark: I’m alone at home and I’m really bored. You?
Emma: I’m waiting for the Robotics Club to start and I’m also making a robot now.
Mark: Robotics Club?! I’m so surprised. You hate maths and science ...

2

Emma: That’s true. I get annoyed when I can only study with books. I love doing things with my
hands.
Mark: So, what kind of robot are you making today?
Emma: I’m making Rob2XR3. It’s difficult but I’m so excited!
Mark: What does it look like?
Emma: It’s got two arms and a big body. It hasn’t got any legs or head.
Mark: That sounds a bit unusual ... What can it do?
Emma: Well, I’m proud because its eyes can flash blue now!
Mark: Is there anything else it can do?
Emma: Well, the manual says the robot can wave its arms and say ‘Hello’! But I think I need my
teacher’s help to finish it.
Mark: Sounds like fun. Can I join this club?
Emma: Sure! It starts in 15 minutes.
Mark: I’m leaving now. See you there!
Emma: See you!

TRACK 2.101
David: Hey, we need to choose an animal for our biology project. Any ideas?
Alexa: Not really, but I think wild animals are more interesting than pets. What about a tiger?
They’re the most dangerous cats with those big claws. And they’ve got the most beautiful
fur.
David: I agree, but everyone is doing a project about cats. What do you think about an owl?
They’ve got the most amazing wings. Blakiston’s fish owl’s wings can be almost two metres
long! I’m shorter than this ...
Alexa: How about something more unusual, like a capybara? It’s the funniest animal on the
Internet. And the most popular!
David: Let me see ... No, in fact, pet cats are still more popular. But a capybara is the friendliest
animal for sure.
Alexa: I know! Let’s write about alpacas! Maybe they’re not the smartest animals but they’re
cuter than sheep.
David: But they are farm animals. You can’t find them in the wild now.
Alexa: Really? Let’s find out more about them then.

Speaker 1: William Shakespeare, the greatest British writer of all time, was born in 1564. His works
were very important for the English language, so on his birthday, 23rd April, people
around the world celebrate not only his life but also the language.
Speaker 2: Alexander Graham Bell was an inventor from Scotland. Thanks to his most important
invention, the telephone, we can now talk to people around the world without leaving
home. On 7th March we celebrate his life and everyone working in science and
technology.
Speaker 3: Maria Mitchell was the first American astronomer to discover a comet. She was born on
1st August 1818 and on this day, American people celebrate the National Women
Astronomers Day. A popular way to spend this day is to learn about women astronomers
and ... to look at the sky at night.
Speaker 4: The Wright Brothers’ Flyer was the first plane to fly on 17th December in 1903. In the
USA, 17th December is a day to remember those two great inventors and celebrate the
history and future of planes.

TRACK 2.103

Last Saturday, I wanted to go to a conservation workshop, but it was so cold that I decided to stay
at home. Then, my friend sent me an invitation to a yoga class near her house. It was my first lesson,
but I loved it!

2
Girl: So, what did you do last weekend?
Boy: We took a train to visit my grandpa. It was his 70th birthday.
Girl: He was a bus driver, right?
Boy: No, that’s my other grandpa. This one was a pilot.

3
Girl: Hi, Joe! Sorry, I’m late.
Boy: That’s OK. Are you OK?
Girl: Yes, it’s just that my tram didn’t arrive, so I decided to take the city bike, but I didn’t find any ...
Boy: Oh no ...
Girl: I got so annoyed that I came on foot.

Hi, Sally. Are you busy this weekend? There’s a cool event at the sports centre, you know the one
between the theatre and the bookshop. Bring the old T-shirts you don’t wear to get some cool ones.
Call me!

5
Are you a fan of sport and spending time outdoors? Then come to the park this weekend, follow our
map, look for clues on the trees and find the secret prize.

TRACK 2.104
Max: Oh no! It’s going to be freezing tomorrow.
Mum: 15 degrees is not freezing. Plus, it’s going to be quite sunny and dry.
Max: Well, no swimming in the ocean for me ...
Mum: You can try on Tuesday; it’s going to be warmer. We can go and see the cliffs tomorrow.
Max: I didn’t know there were cliffs in Ireland.
Mum: Kerry Cliffs are about an hour away by car. You can see some islands from there. And then we
can go hiking up the Geokaun Mountain.
Max: Don’t tell me that there are also waterfalls and lakes and ...
Mum: But there are! In fact, dad is going to show us Torc Waterfall on our last day.
Max: What about volcanoes?
Mum: Well, there are no active volcanoes now in Ireland but there were some millions of years ago.
There’s also a place that looks like a desert, but I think it’s an idea for our next holiday ...
Max: I think we’re going to spend our next holiday on a warm beach, Mum ... Now, I’m going to
take out my shorts and pack jumpers and hoodies before we go ...

TRACK 2.105
Interviewer: Welcome to Teen Podcast. Today, we’re talking to Dr Jenkins about how young people
can stay healthy. Let’s start with diet. What should teens eat?
Dr Jenkins: Great question! Teens should have a well-balanced diet with a lot of fruit and
vegetables – that’s your five-a-day. Don’t forget proteins like tofu and chickpeas,
and healthy carbs for energy. Limit fatty food and sweets.
Interviewer: What about physical activities?
Dr Jenkins: You shouldn’t go to the gym or playing fields only for PE lessons. Go there every day,
do your favourite sport.
Interviewer: I usually walk or ride my bike to school. Can I call this sport?
Dr Jenkins: Absolutely! It’s great because you also spend time outdoors then.

Interviewer: What can you say to young people who are stressed?
Dr Jenkins: Don’t forget to make time to relax. It’s different for everyone, some teens have
a passion like art or music. Others play computer games. All of this is good, just
remember to limit your time online.
Interviewer: Having a healthy lifestyle sounds a bit difficult.
Dr Jenkins: It isn’t when you manage your time. You can plan everything, even what you eat or
when you relax.

TRACK 2.106

1
Mum: What about a tortoise? They’re easier to keep than lizards.
Boy: I’m not sure. Oh, what’s this animal? It looks like a bigger hamster. I love its little ears and
cute white whiskers. And its brown and white fur is beautiful!

2
Boy: Happy birthday, Sally!
Girl: Thanks, Joe ... But it isn’t my birthday today.
Boy: But it’s 20th March.
Girl: Oh, it’s Peter’s birthday. My birthday is on 12th April. What about you?
Boy: It’s on 2nd May. Let’s call Peter!

3
Boy: Let’s go to the zoo on Saturday.
Girl: It’s going to be wet all weekend. What about a book fair on Sunday?
Boy: But I’ve got so many books ...
Girl: There’s going to be a book swap at the fair. You know, it’s like the clothes swap we went to
last month.
Boy: That sounds nice. Let’s go there.

4
Hi, Mum. It’s just to tell you I’m having a great time. It’s warm today so we’re swimming in the sea.
The beach is amazing. Yesterday we went on a trip to the lake and hiked in the forest. It’s so wild it
looks like a jungle!

5
Girl: Excuse me, how can I get to the Odeon Cinema?
Woman: Take bus number 101, then get off at the main train station and take tram number 5.
