CLASS 8 Final
Once upon a time, there was a giant who owned a beautiful garden. The garden was a paradise for children
who loved to play there every afternoon after school. The garden was filled with lovely flowers and had
twelve peach trees that burst into blossoms of pink and pearl in the spring, and in the autumn bore rich
fruit. The giant, however, was selfish. He did not want anyone else to enjoy his garden. One day, he returned
home after a long visit to his friend, the Cornish Ogre, and found the children playing in his garden. Furious,
he chased them away and built a high wall around his garden with a sign that read: “TRESPASSERS WILL
BE PROSECUTED.”The children were sad, and with no place to play, they wandered around the streets.
Without the children’s laughter, the garden fell into a perpetual winter. Snow, frost, and hail took over, and
the trees and flowers refused to bloom. Spring never came, nor did summer or autumn. One morning, the
giant woke up to a wonderful sound—a bird singing outside his window. He realized that spring had finally
arrived. He looked outside and saw that the children had found a way through a hole in the wall and were
playing in the garden again. The trees were blossoming, and flowers were blooming wherever the children
played.
