This part gets students to think about seasons. They will have a chance to talk about it in greater detail later, so
keep the discussion general for now.

2. Clothes for different seasons

5 mins
This exercise introduces some key vocabulary to the topics of clothes and seasons. Ask students to complete the
exercise individually in the first instance and then to check their answers with their partner.
Note that in American English, ‘a jumper’ is ‘a sweater’. In both American and British English ’tights’ are also called
’pantyhose’.

3. Activities for different seasons

Part A
In this exercise, students practise some collocations connected to the topic. Ask students to complete the exercise
individually in the first instance and then to check their answers with their partner. Then, ask them to discuss in
pairs what activities they do each season. Advise them to use the vocabulary from the lesson.

4. Weather and seasons

Ask students to discuss the weather in their countries during each season. Then, students write few sentences
about the chosen season using vocabulary from sections 3 and 4. Circulate and help as needed.

In this stage students practise months and ordinal numbers. Ask students to complete the exercise individually in
the first instance and then to check their answers with their partner.

6. Special days

5 mins
In this part, students practise speaking and listening skills while discussing some Special Days in the world. Students
ask and answer questions to complete the tables and check their answers, e.g. "Which month is Valentine’s Day
in?" "It’s in February." If they are not familiar with some holidays, you can encourage them to do a small research.
Circulate and help as needed.

Celebrations are held differently in different countries. Diwali is the Hindu ‘festival of lights’. It celebrates the
victory of light over darkness or good over evil. People put lights around their homes and temples. Eid al-Adha is
a Muslim festival where families sometimes kill an animal. It honours Ibrahim (Abraham), who sacrificed his son.
Day of the Dead is a festival in Mexico where people honour the dead. There are big parades where people dress
up. St. Patrick’s Day is a special day when there are parades to celebrate the Irish saint St. Patrick, and people
also drink a lot of alcohol. Source: Wikipedia
