(CSR) as a means to develop and adopt sustainable practices and approaches in their business

The Project Lifecycle is the sequence of phases through which a project progresses. The number of
phases and sequence of the cycle may vary based on the company and the type of project
undergone. As part of a project, however, they should have a definite start and end and be
constrained by time. The lifecycle provides the basic foundation of the actions that have to be

The concept of project life cycle in the context of organizations is not new. It has been suggested
that lifecycle can explain a variety of events, such as shifting strategic priorities (Smith, Mitchell,

in employees’ views of an organizations effectiveness criteria (Cameron and Whetton, 1981).
The importance of project management is a key factor in bringing success to projects. In addition,

Research techniques are defined as a highly intellectual activity used to investigate nature and
problems, focusing on the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data. Research methods
describe the objectives, activities, procedures, and applications of the research. The basis of
research methodology refers to the philosophy of research as it deals with formulating a research

Research methods and strategies are an important component of the project architecture, as all

Each organization must choose the optimal process to choose the most suitable method and
whether or not there are many variations of the method. Research is divided into whether using
standardized techniques or tailored techniques, depending on the industry, project type, team
experience, and culture yields superior results (Joslin and Muller, 2014).
A research strategy is a step-by-step action plan that guides a researcher's thinking. It helps the
researcher to conduct research in a methodical and timely manner. The main objective is to
introduce the main components of research, including the research topic, field, main focus,
research design, and research methods (Walia and Chetty, 2020).

There are many research approaches, however, in this project, we only mention two main
approaches: Qualitative and Quantitative. In particular, we will delve into the quantitative
approach – the method we used for this project.
Qualitative method
Qualitative inquiry is used when the key variables influencing the outcome are unclear or when the
number of participants or outcomes investigated is insufficient for statistical analysis (Smelser,
1973).
Topics can range in scale from an individual to a large group, and research topics can range from a
specific behavior to the operations of a complex organization. Researchers use qualitative methods
when they are interested in the beliefs, motivations, and behaviors of individuals, groups, and
organizations (Lakshman, 2000).
When contextual forces are poorly defined, uncontrollable, or situational, qualitative approaches
are most informative. This distinction emphasizes the fact that understanding is not synonymous
with universality or predictability; all three may overlap, but the precise understanding of an event
or consequence is often personal and time-bound (Holman, 1993).
Emphasis can range from one person or a small group, such as the interaction between a health
care professional and a patient, to the activities of a primary professional. Organization, such as a
hospital. Fundamentally, research enables us to comprehend the nature, strengths, and
interactions of factors. As with quantitative research, qualitative research involves the observation
and interpretation of occurrences and can address causality. Unlike quantitative research,
qualitative research aims to answer “what” rather than “how often” (Lakshman, 2000). Instead of
taking a simplified, reductionist view of the topic to quantify and tally the occurrence of states or
events, qualitative approaches retain the complexity of human behavior by adopting a holistic
viewpoint (Strong, 1992). Investigate procedures of qualitative approach include external

Quantitative Approach
Quantitative approaches explore the impact of defined conditions (independent variable)on a

statistically proven connections. The quantitative approaches are most successful when the
material is so confined or regulated that there is no undefined influence on the study events. Under

event are likely to be accurate (Lakshman, 2000).
This study is also known as empirical research since it can be assessed exactly and correctly. The
data gathered by the researcher might be categorized, ranked, or quantified using units of
measurement. With the use of quantitative research, graphs and tables of raw data may be
generated, making it easier for the researcher to understand the results (Ahmad et al., 2019).
Popular methods used to gather quantitative data are: Surveys, Questionnaires, Tests, Databases,

4.4 Data collecting tools
Data collection is the process of gathering and evaluating information or data from multiple
sources to find answers to research problems, answer questions, evaluate results, and predict
trends and probabilities. It is an essential stage in all types of research, analysis, and decision-
making, including research in the social sciences, business, and healthcare (Simplilearn, 2024)
Primary data collection involves the collection of original data directly from the source or through
direct interaction with the respondents. This method allows researchers to obtain firsthand
information specifically tailored to their research objectives. There are various techniques for
primary data collection, including:
Surveys and questionnaires are common tools in research to collect data from individuals or
groups, with many notable advantages. First of all, they help save time and cost, especially when
implemented on a large scale through online platforms. This allows researchers to collect data
quickly and effectively without having to invest a lot of resources. In addition, data collected from
structured questions easily encrypt and analyze statistical analysis, thereby creating accurate and
easy-to-understand reports. The survey is also widely accessible, allowing distribution to many
participants in different locations without physical presence. Another strength is the security and
anonymous of the survey, making the answer feel more comfortable when providing personal or
sensitive information. Finally, the use of standardization questions in the survey ensures high
consistency during data collection, avoiding influence by the difference from the survey.
However, besides the advantages, of surveys and questionnaires, there are also certain
limitations. One of the major disadvantages is the lack of deep interaction because structural
questions often do not allow the respondents to express details or explain their answers more
clearly. This can lead to the loss of important information. The quality of data collected may also be
affected if the respondent misunderstood the question or answered incorrectly, reducing the
reliability of the research results. Moreover, the low response rate, especially in online surveys, can
make the data collected not highly representative. Survey and questionnaire also did not reflect the
motivation of the participants, because they only focused on the static answer without exploring
the emotions or the motivation of behavior. Finally, lack of flexibility is another limitation, when
once the survey has been implemented, it is difficult to change or adjust the content without
affecting the collection results.
In general, surveys and questionnaires are useful tools in collecting large-scale data, but it should
be carefully designed and done skillfully to make the most of the advantages and minimize the

Interviews: Interviews involve direct interaction between the researcher and the respondent. They
can be conducted in person, over the phone, or through video conferencing. Interviews can be
structured (with predefined questions), semi-structured (allowing flexibility), or unstructured (more
conversational).
The interview is an important data collection method in the study, with many outstanding
advantages. First of all, the interview allows direct interaction between the researcher and the
respondent, thereby helping to collect more detailed and deeper information than other methods.

VII. Implement a Project Management Plan (PMP) to communicate the results from the study and
draw conclusions from the evidence of the findings
1. Customer survey evaluation on PNJ's CSR waste reduction.

Analysis of PNJ project research results for middle-aged groups (36-45 years old) shows that they
have a high level of awareness of waste and environmental protection measures, however, the

activities, the level of participation in waste reduction programs has been limited before, and not

strengthening education and propaganda about environmental issues. This shows that despite their
high awareness, more encouraging and educational measures need to enhance practical actions
and improve their participation in environmental protection programs.
Analysis of PNJ's research results to the group of subjects under 18 years of age shows that,
although the awareness of environmental protection and waste reduction measures have been
improved in some individuals and still exist. At many limitations in practical actions and extensive
knowledge about this issue.
The majority of young people in this group know and take some environmental protection
measures such as using cloth bags to replace plastic bags and shopping plans to avoid wasting food.
However, the level of implementation is uneven, some people perform regularly, some people only
do it occasionally or rarely. Regarding the use of reusable water bottles and other recycled
products, this group shows the readiness and even agrees strongly with the application of strong
legal measures to handle behavior. litter
However, there is still a significant number of teenagers who do not care or ignore programs such
as exchanging garbage for gifts or exchanging trash for money, as well as other recycling measures.
This reflects that despite the attention and willingness to act from a part of the target group,
education and propaganda still need to be enhanced to raise awareness and promote more

Proposals from this group mainly focus on strengthening education, propaganda and improving
recycling systems. This shows that this young group needs more guidance and support from
organizations and governments to be able to participate more actively in environmental protection
activities. Encouraging their participation through educational and community activities is an

1.2.3 Drawing meaningful and valid conclusions and recommendations from data analysis
From the data analysis through a consumer survey conducted in Hanoi City on PNJ's waste
reduction project development efforts, some meaningful conclusions and recommendations were
drawn as follows:
Conclusion: The data reflects customers' positive attitudes towards waste reduction initiatives
through the questions. Firstly, customers' perceptions of PNJ's environmental protection efforts
through the survey show a generally positive perception of customers in Hanoi City on PNJ's
commitment to developing a waste reduction project. A large proportion of information provided
through social media underscores the growing importance of online platforms in disseminating
information and customers tend to highly agree with PNJ's initiatives. Second, PNJ's
communication strategy is essential to spreading information about the company's environmental
protection activities, especially on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
Customer awareness is also significantly enhanced through PNJ's websites. Next, in terms of
willingness to participate in programs and activities that PNJ creates to reduce waste to the
environment, showing a willingness to support the project, "Are you willing to participate in
volunteer activities on environmental cleaning?" accounts for 58.9% of their environmental
responsibility. Finally, PNJ has a strong brand reputation in Hanoi City, where customers care about
factors such as using reusable water bottles instead of plastic water bottles, reducing waste such as
planning shopping, avoiding food waste, and using cloth bags instead of plastic bags when
shopping.
Recommendation: Through the survey, most customers know a little about waste reduction. This
shows that customers are aware and knowledgeable about waste reduction to protect the
environment, but customers do not understand deeply and do not have the opportunity to
participate in environmental campaigns. Therefore, PNJ should create a program, a campaign to
collect waste on major streets. Almost all crowded streets in Hanoi will have a lot of waste
discharged every day, there will be a lot of plastic and nylon waste on the streets. PNJ can create a
campaign "collecting plastic and nylon waste". When launching this campaign, many customers will
participate and understand more about PNJ's waste reduction project. After participating in the

project, which is to assess customers' perceptions of PNJ's efforts in developing a project to reduce

The recommendations made in the project are consistent to leverage customer awareness to
improve and further develop environmental protection campaigns. These recommendations are
supported by logical reasoning and evidence from data analysis. A typical example of maintaining
and enhancing communication through social media and other communication channels is
demonstrated by the significant impact of customers’ social networks. Young people are the ones
who use social networks the most due to their quick access - which is a characteristic of youth in
the face of human progress and
achievements. According to research by the Pew Center (a famous demographic research center in
the USA), 90% of teenagers from 13 to 17 years old have used social networks. 75% have at least
one personal account on social networks, 51% use social networks daily and 2/3 have mobile
devices with internet access. (Pew, 2018)
More notably, according to newly updated data after the Covid-19 pandemic, a new social network
called TikTok is emerging, with statistics showing that 32.5% of users are aged 10-19. (according to
data from the American market research and analysis company Apptopia) [2] Surprisingly, the
number of TikTok users in Vietnam is ranked 6th in the world, of which up to 4 million people
under 18 years old use this social network! [3] It is no longer strange that TikTok is considered the

This is in line with PNJ’s goal of effectively communicating its waste reduction awareness efforts to
the public. Furthermore, it is recommended that PNJ create campaigns and training courses to
improve customer awareness. In addition, it is recommended that PNJ maintain its environmental
efforts in line with the survey results that highlight positive customer perceptions. It aims to
leverage existing customer goodwill emphasize enhancing customer mindset towards the project
and continuously maintain and enhance PNJ’s position as a leading socially responsible brand in the
market, especially concerning the environment. Overall, the conclusions drawn from the data
analysis reflect positive customer attitudes towards PNJ’s environmental initiatives, while the
recommendations target specific areas to enhance customer awareness of the environment. These
efforts contribute to both business results and social impact in line with PNJ’s environmental goals.
8.2 Was your work successful in achieving its stated objectives? How would you know?
Specifically, please outline any evaluations and assessments that have been undertaken To assess
the
success of the analysis and recommendations in real-world situations, evaluations may include
validation of the survey methodology including examining survey data collected from consumers in
Hanoi to verify that the findings are consistent with the analysis presented. The survey reached a
population of an environmentally conscious age. This may include examining whether the
demographic breakdown of respondents (age) corresponds to a certain percentage and
understanding whether the sentiment expressed by respondents corresponds to the conclusions
drawn. Feedback and assessments from customers and other stakeholders may then be sought on

8.3 What aspects of your development process do you think have worked well and why?
The project was divided into four distinct phases: Conceptualization, Planning, Implementation,
