1. Definition Verb

Verb atau kata kerja adalah kata yang digunakan untuk

menggambarkan tindakan, kejadian, atau keadaan. Contohnya, dalam
kalimat "Dia berlari ke taman," kata "berlari" adalah verb karena
menunjukkan aksi atau tindakan. Verb juga bisa menggambarkan sesuatu
yang terjadi atau keadaan, seperti "Dia sedih" (kata "sedih" menunjukkan
keadaan). V erb terbagi menjadi dua bentuk, yaitu:

• Kata Kerja Transitif adalah kata kerja yang memerlukan objek untuk
melengkapi maknanya. Tanpa objek, kalimat dengan kata kerja transitif
akan terasa tidak lengkap atau tidak jelas. Objek ini berfungsi sebagai
penerima aksi dari kata kerja tersebut.
Contoh: "Dia membaca buku." Membaca adalah kata kerja transitif
karena memerlukan objek (buku) untuk menyempurnakan makna
kalimat.

• Kata Kerja Intransitif adalah kata kerja yang tidak memerlukan objek
untuk melengkapi maknanya. Aksi atau keadaan yang diungkapkan
oleh kata kerja intransitif sudah lengkap tanpa adanya objek.
Contoh: "Dia tidur." Tidur adalah kata kerja intransitif karena tidak
memerlukan objek. Kalimatnya sudah jelas dan lengkap tanpa harus ada
penerima aksi.

Jadi, perbedaan utama adalah: kata kerja transitif membutuhkan objek,

sementara kata kerja intransitif tidak.
2. Bentuk Kata Kerja :
a. Base form adalah bentuk dasar dari suatu kata tanpa imbuhan atau
perubahan bentuk.
Contoh: run, eat, write
b. Present (Simple Present) Digunakan untuk menunjukkan kebiasaan,
fakta umum, atau keadaan yang berlangsung sekarang.Biasanya kata
kerja ini tetap dalam bentuk dasar, kecuali untuk subjek tunggal
(he/she/it) yang biasanya menambahkan -s atau –es.
(Contoh: run → runs, play → plays).
c. Past (Simple Past) Bentuk ini digunakan untuk menyatakan tindakan
yang sudah terjadi di masa lalu. Untuk kata kerja beraturan, cukup
tambahkan -ed Namun, banyak kata kerja tidak beraturan yang
berubah bentuk.
(Contoh: to walk → walked, to go → went).
d. Infinitive (Bentuk Dasar) Ini adalah bentuk dasar dari kata kerja,
sering diawali dengan kata "to."
(Contoh: to run, to eat, to play)
e. Present Participle (Bentuk -ing) Ini adalah bentuk kata kerja yang
digunakan untuk menunjukkan tindakan yang sedang berlangsung,
biasanya ditambah -ing. Bentuk ini digunakan dalam present
continuous, past continuous, dan gerund.
(Contoh: run → running, eat → eating)
f. Past Participle (Bentuk Lampau) Ini digunakan dalam perfect tenses
dan juga dalam bentuk pasif. Untuk kata kerja beraturan, bentuknya
sama dengan past tense (ditambah -ed), tapi untuk kata kerja tidak
beraturan, bentuknya bisa berbeda.
(Contoh: walk → walked, go →gone, see → seen.

Cara ubah bentuk kata kerja ke base form

- Infinitive : to + base form (to play, to run)
- Present: base form (play, runs)
- Past: past form (played, went)
- Present Participle: verb + -ing (playing, running)
- Past Participle: biasanya bentuk -ed atau bentuk tidak beraturan
(played, gone, seen)
