K-POP Dance Club Constitution

Article I: Name K-Pop Dance Club


Article II: Purpose This club is meant to provide a space for learning about and sharing
passion over K-Pop dance, allowing for physical work and effort to be put
into practicing and mastering various routines or dance styles; the K-Pop
Dance Club aims to promote welfare of Palos Verdes Peninsula High
School students and create an area where interest in K-Pop can be
explored and implemented into learning many different dances in an open
and fun environment.
Article III: Members
1. All members of the K-Pop Dance Club must be students not only interested in learning
about K-Pop, but also willing to put in the effort of learning certain routines. Membership
shall not be limited based on race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, ability,
gender expression, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
2. Neither prerequisite classes nor minimum grade point averages are necessary to qualify
as a member.
3. No fees or dues are requested from members.
4. Resigning members, for reasons of other time commitments, dissatisfaction, or any other
causes for resignation, are preferred to send a message by Teams to the club officers,
letting them know that they will no longer appear for meetings.
Article IV: Officers
1. List of Officers
a. President: Emily O’Neill
b. Vice President: Alegria Engle-Tseng
c. Secretary: Casey Cruz
d. Treasurer: Nina Pavlickova
2. For an officer to be selected, existing officers will interview candidates from members of
the K-Pop Dance Club interested in acting as officers. If need be, a vote can be held by
officers to decide between favorable candidates. No speeches are required for applicants
to be considered.
3. Length of term of office shall be two years for president, vice president, secretary, and
treasurer; after the two years have passed there will occur interviews for the next
executives to take office.
4. The president and vice president will be selected from sophomore, junior, or senior
members of the K-Pop Dance Club; the secretary and treasurer position is allowed for all
grade level members. Officers must have been a member of the K-Pop Dance Club for a
school year before entering office.
5. President, vice president, secretary, and treasurer must all be present for club meetings.
The president is responsible for the renewal and status of club charters, as well as
managing the work of other officers. The president will set goals for the club, be it
allowing for a guest teacher or setting up performances, and will also plan future
meetings, such as dictating which dances will be learned and how they will be taught.
The president will also participate in any communications that occur between this club
and other organizations. The vice president assists the president in their delegations and
will run meetings if the president is not available. The vice president will complete any
tasks the president commits them to, as well as handling paperwork and promotion
material. The secretary shall keep record of each meeting, and will be in charge of
understanding material that has been covered and material that will be covered. The
treasurer will manage finances, including budgeting spending on material and supplies,
collecting money during sales such as Homecoming or Walk for Life, and keeping record
of the club’s spendings and earnings. All officers will work in tandem to achieve club
goals and provide enjoyable and beneficial experiences for all members of the K-Pop
Dance Club.
Article V: Meetings
Meetings will typically take place weekly on Wednesdays during lunch. Special meetings
may be called by the president of the K-Pop Dance Club by way of Teams. A quorum
constituting 10 people will be required to attend each meeting.
Article VI: Amendments
The process by which the constitution will be amended shall be undergone by the K-Pop
Dance Club officers as well as the club advisor. The officers will meet and discuss any
changes that must be made to the constitution; a vote will be held by the officers and the
following deliberations will be applied to the constitution.
Article VII: Schedule
This constitution shall become effective at the time of September 26, 2024, at the
beginning of club rush.
Article VIII: Parliamentary Procedure
Unless suspended, all meetings will be run according to Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly
Revised.
Article IX: Amendment of By-Laws
These by-laws may be amended by a majority vote of the members provided that a
quorum is present. If such amendments pass by the majority, a new copy of the By-laws
must be filed with the PVPHS Commissioners of Club and Activities Director.
Article X: Policies and Actions
The club and any individual associated with said club, shall abide and conform to all
Federal Laws, California State Laws, all rules and regulations of Palos Verdes Peninsula
Unified School District, and all directives of the ASB Student Government. Any violation
of the aforementioned criteria may result in the disciplinary action taken on the club
charter.
