SIZWEKAZI MKWANAZI
Earlier last week, I had the privilege of speaking with our Grade 8 and 9
Science Expo Finalists, and what an extraordinary group they are!
First, let’s talk about their creativity. Thabisile and Kaelyn, in particular, LION

blood! I’m still processing that fascinating fact.
The group encountered numerous challenges while working on their
projects. Some students mentioned repeatedly forgetting key parts of their CLICK BELOW TO LISTEN
presentations, others struggled with the stubbornness of Styrofoam, and a
few had to deal with uncooperative group members. Despite these
obstacles, they persevered and reached the finals, proving that their hard
work was worth it.When I asked how it felt to make it this far, they all
expressed immense pride in their achievement. Thabisile, in particular,
shared that this is her last Expo, and she wanted to finish with a bang.
The entire group wanted to extend their heartfelt thanks to their parents
and teachers for believing in them. Shalom also expressed gratitude to God, APPLE MUSIC
acknowledging that without His help, she might not have made it this far.
Congratulations to our Science Expo Finalists! You faced challenges,
overcame them, and came out on top!

BATTLING TO THE END: A STORY OF DETERMINATION
ASHTON KAYO

The U/15A team faced a formidable

challenge going into their recent
match against CBC, the top team on
the table. Despite some pre-game
nerves, the team delivered an
outstanding performance, securing
a 3-1 victory. From the opening
whistle, the boys displayed
relentless energy and
determination, refusing to back
down until the final whistle. This
crucial win not only boosts their
confidence but also significantly
enhances their chances of making it
to the playoffs. "We just hope we
make it to the playoffs now; we
definitely should after that result.
It's just about whether we play in
the play-offs, that’s all," remarked a
team representative, reflecting the
team's optimism after such a
significant triumph.

In their most recent match, the First

Team displayed significant growth
even if a regrettable late goal
resulted in a defeat. With three
goals, the team demonstrated a far
improved performance in
comparison to their last game,
which was deemed to be "110%
better." Despite their
disappointment with the outcome,
the players acknowledged the
game's many excellent aspects. "The
performance today was far superior.
We didn't deserve to lose this game,
in my opinion. In the final moments
of the game, we only need to
concentrate," the coach remarked. MARAGON CUP!!

THE START OF PRELIMS! GOOD LUCK

MATRICS!!
MOLATELO NALE

As the matrics began their prelims on the 23rd of August,

they’ve been navigating the delicate balance between studying
and relaxing. Some find that studying in the morning is most
effective, taking advantage of the quiet and minimal distractions
to focus better. Others prefer to revise just before their exams,
feeling that a last-minute review sharpens their memory.
However, like many students, they face challenges, with
procrastination being a significant hurdle. Several metrics have
expressed regret over their procrastination, believing that it
impacted their performance in the exams they’ve taken so far.
To manage stress, many turn to their favourite snacks—sweets
and chips—providing small comforts amidst the pressure. When
it comes to calming nerves before an exam, deep breathing is a
common strategy. Interestingly, some metrics embrace their
nervousness, believing that staying on edge helps them stay
alert and serious about the task at hand.
Their advice to others emphasises the Importance of
preparation: have your notes organised before prelims start, and
pace yourself to avoid the stress of cramming at the last minute.
This approach ensures that the workload remains manageable.
Throughout this period, the support of family and friends has
been invaluable, providing motivation to keep going. For
inspiration, some metrics rely on their faith, believing that “it’s
in God’s hands,” while others find solace in Bible verses that
resonate with their current situation. These strategies and
supports play a crucial role in helping them navigate the
challenges of prelims.
A TRIP TO BABY CORP
AMA-LANGA LANGA

Last week Friday grade 10 NS took a voluntary trip to a

Precious Blessings orphanage aka boss baby corp. The class
bonded and learned about the boss babies, and their
heartwarming backstories. The “ baby corp “ takes in babies
from the age of 9 months and up . When I conducted an
interview with one of the students he said ‘
When we arrived , the mother of the house lead us through the
orphanage and gave us her touching backstory about her and
husband and how they started the orphanage, we had a
wonderful time learning about the babies stories and how they
ended up at the orphanage. Overall it was a 10/10 experience’
Looks like the class had fun bonding with the cute little boss
babies !
