In today's society, people deal with a wide range of modern difficulties. There are many pressing sociological issues
while some of these issues are simple to resolve, others need more time or even be unsolvable. Gender Discrimination
and Inequality in society is one of the most major and controversial current topics that is still unresolved. The concept
of gender inequality, commonly referred to as gender discrimination, emphasizes that men and women are treated
differently, which is an unhealthy practice that can adversely affect the people of society.
Everywhere, gender inequality and discrimination exist. Gender discrimination often comes from preconceived,
unfounded cultural and individual beliefs about what gender is, how gender "should" appear, or how gender works.
The majority of people mistakenly think that someone's gender, attitudes, and behaviors are always determined by
their biological sex. The reasons for gender discrimination are numerous. Illiteracy must be the most prevalent of
these. Individual mentality is another factor. We all know that boys are believed to be good at sports, academics, and
employment, while girls are adept at household chores. The patriarchal structure of the society we live in also has a
significant impact. In this society dominated by men, men are viewed as superior and women as weak. On top of that,
it demonstrates that women are weaker and lack the ability to stand up for themselves. Gender discrimination has
many negative effects on society as a whole. Everyone is impacted by it; it doesn't only effect a small segment of
society. It has an impact on young people because it changes their behavior, academic pursuits, aspirations, attitudes,
and more. The bias, stereotypes, discrimination based on sex or gender that leads to the experiences of inequality.
Throughout history, gender inequality has been a sensitive subject. This and other stereotype are commonplace over
the world because men are seen as good in decision making and women as emotional. Women were only supposed to
perform domestic duties in the past, even in the Philippines. It is clear in today's society that the percentage of women
working in traditional jobs is steadily rising. Workplaces are where gender inequity is most prevalent. A fair wage or
equal pay is frequently denied to them. In today's society, women are still faced with problems that make them suffer
and put them in uncomfortable situations. For instance, when you first enter the workforce, gender disparity is more
evident and not simply in terms of salary; wage disparities between the sexes reflect employment inequality. Men now
have more possibilities than ever to pursue academic goals. Young women appear to have less opportunities for higher
education than young men. This kind of inequalities in society leads to hate, unfairness, and a lot more.
These days we live in a developed world dominated by men and women, so why should we practice and suffer from
this way of unfair treatment? In general, this discrimination and inequality has been around for a long time and in all
parts of the world, no matter where it is. However, with the education and progressive thinking of the people, there are
reasons to trust in the future that this will be eradicated. All in all, humanity needs men and women to continue. Thus,
gender discrimination and inequality will get us nowhere. To conclude, we need to get rid of the old-age traditions and
mentality. We must teach everyone, especially the boys all about equality and respect. It requires quite a lot of work
but it is possible. We can work together and achieve equal respect and opportunities for all genders alike.
