CHAPTER 1 – GENERAL PROVISIONS

Provide a framework of minimum standards & requirements for

DEFINITION OF TERMS

CHAPTER 3 - PERMITS
 Written authorization from the building official to proceed w/
work issued to an applicant only once the plans & other docs
Permit are found compliant to building code
 Required: before constructing, altering, repairing,
converting, moving, adding to, or demolishing a building
 Minor constructions
a) Minor structures, 6 sqm. Or less in area, detached
from other buildings, for private use only; (shed,
poultry houses, greenhouses)
b) Open terraces / patios bot exceeding 20 sqm
c) Window grilles
d) Garden pools 500mm deep / shallower

ARTICLE 1723 OF THE CIVIL CODE
a) Architect/engineer who draw up the plans & specifications
for a building is liable for damages if within 15 years from
the completion of the structure (collapse by reason of a
defect in those plans & specification, or due to the defects in
the ground)
b) Contractor – if edifice falls, within same period, defects in
the construction or the use of materials of inferior quality

c) If engineer/architect supervises the construction, he shall be

CHAPTER 6 – FIRE RESISTIVE REQUIREMENTS
 Degree to which a material can withstand fire

CHAPTER 7 – CLASSIFICATION & GENERAL REQUIREMENT
No building shall be constructed unless it adjoins / has direct

CHAPTER 9 - SANITATION

CHAPTER 15 – PREFABRICATED CONSTRUCTION
 A structural unit, the integral parts of which have been built-
up or assembled prior to incorporation in the building

CHAPTER 16 - PLASTICS
Approved plastics  Those which have a flame-spread rating of 225 or less
 Those with a smoke density not greater than that obtained

 Those whose products of combustion are no more toxic than
those of untreated wood

bear the manufacturer’s label indicating said characteristics
 Measures shall be taken to keep persons from walking into
fixed glass panels where the floor on both sides of the glass

CHAPTER 19 – USE OF COMPUTERS
