Assignment No.

Bc

Phy301

Question No.1:-

Solution:-

Part a

Given

Voltage source V=12

R1=10 ΩR

R2=3 ΩR

R3=6 ΩR

The circuit has R2 and R3 in parallel, which is then in series with R1.

Step 1:-

Calculate the Equivalent Resistance for R2 and R3 .

R2 and R3 are in parallel, their combined resistance Rparallel can be calculated as:

Substitute the values:

Step 2:

Calculate the Total Resistance Rtotal.

Step 3:

Calculate the Total Current I through the Circuit.

Using Ohm's law:

Substitute the values:

So, the current I through the circuit is 1 A.

b.

The power across a resistor can be calculated using the formula:

where I is the current through the resistor and R is the resistance of the resistor.

1. Power across R1:

2. Power across R2 and R3:

R2 and R3 are in parallel, the current will split between them.

 Voltage across R2 and R3:

Now, we can calculate the power for each resistor.

 Power across R2:

 Power across R3:

Results:

· current I through the circuit: 1 A

· Power across each resistor:

Question no.2:-

Solution:-

Given:

Node Voltages:
Solve Equations:

Current through 5 kΩ Resistor:

Results:

Question no.3:-

Solution:-

Given

 Voltage source V=10 V

 Resistors R1=10 Ω and R2=20Ω connected in series
The voltage drop across the 10 Ω resistor is approximately 3.33 V.
