Introduction :-
• Cultural Heritage is the remembrance of its living
civilization.
• Cultural Heritage includes artifacts ,monuments ,
a group of buildings and sites ,museums that
have a diversity of values including symbolic,
historic ,artistic ,aesthetic ,ethnological ,scientific
and social significance .
What is conservation of cultural heritage :-
• The conservation of cultural
heritage refers to the measures
taken to extends the life of cultural
heritage while strengthening
transmission of its significant
heritage messages and values .
• Conservation of cultural heritage
includes examination ,
• documentation ,treatment and
preservation care of cultural
monuments.
Types of cultural Heritage :-
• There are mainly three types of cultural heritage:-
• 1. Built environment
(buildings ,townscapes ,archaeological remains)
• 2. Natural environment (rural landscapes ,coasts
and shorelines ,agricultural heritage)
• 3. Artifacts (books & documents ,objects ,
pictures)
Importance of cultural heritage
conservation :-

• It provide a sense of identity or


Retaining Our Identity,
• It promotes Cultural Tourism
• It increases property value
• Also have importance in
Economic Sustainability
• In Reduction of Demolition waste
Causes of Decay of cultural heritage :-
• Physical factors :- Accidental
wearing ,mishandling ,careless handling at the time of
minor routine work ,failure to control of visitors from
touching the objects etc. cause damage.
• Chemical factors :-
Humidity ,Temperature ,Light ,Atmospheric pollution etc.
cause extensive damage to the cultural properties.
How to preserve :-
• The best way to preserve
cultural heritage is , to share
it with others.
• The Cultural heritage should
be preserve through an
integrated education
approach.
• Digital storage has played a
large role in the preservation
of cultural heritage.
Steps taken by Government to conserve
cultural heritage :-
• The government of India recently identified 22 heritage
sites for mega tourism destination development
• The National list of Intangible Heritage (ICH) of India
aims to raise awareness about various ICH elements
from different states of India at National and
International level and ensure their protection.
• Institute of Ministry of culture such as
SNA ,CCRT ,IGNCA ,NSD etc. are engaged in the
work of preserving and promoting the traditional
cultural heritage of India.
Conservation of cultural heritage in
sustainable development :-

• As a living heritage ,the body of knowledge ,values and


practices of intangible cultural heritage related to
environment has a capacity to evolve and adapt for more
sustainable use of natural resources when necessary .
Conclusion :-
• Cultural Heritage plays a very Important role in our life.
It is what keeps us attached to our religion ,tradition
and beliefs.
• It is necessary to improve awareness of cultural
heritage and the ethics of it.The best way to conserve
it is to share it with others . The conclusion recognize
that cultural heritage can play a key role in promoting
peace ,democracy and sustainable development by
fostering tolerance ,inter cultural and inter faith
dialogue and mutual understanding.
