Using the five areas of the NEU collaboration commitment, create an exceptional system of
collaboration by completing the following steps:
The new chapter six as provided the area of focus that makes up commitment that would be
of great help in schools. The focus area is the Clarity of Purpose, Respectful of Time, Time
Banking, Professional Growth, Building Candid Professional Relationships(Lopez, 2013).
Lopez states that these commitments should contain between four to six areas of focus.
(Lopez, 2013 para. 11). After reading the collaboration of commitment, it has really opened
my thinking in an area which I have never come across in the schools where I have worked.
Though many schools that have worked for also have like I – 4 out of the five focus area that
makes up the collaboration commitment.
My viewpoint on collaboration changed in the area of candid professional relationship.
Collaboration is the process of working together as a group to achieve a common goal and to
take the organization to a higher level of success. I have come to realize it is important to
build a strong professional relationship together. There are some schools I have worked for I
noticed they lacked candid professional relationship because some teachers like to have their
own group that they bound together. This can affect the growth and success of the school. I
would really love that schools should implement the candid professional relationship 100
percent. It will be a great success for students and the teachers.
Implementation Goal: Multicultural education is one of the important goals for my school.
My school classrooms consist of students from different backgrounds, class, color, gender,
language, and ethnicity etc. So, it is very important for all the stakeholders of the learning
process to work out a plan so that we can create such an environment in the school so that
every student can learn without any problem. With better planning and fund management, it
can be achieved. Like students from different linguistic background have to provide with
latest language technologies so that they can learn in their language and understand the lesson
completely. So, for this professional plan, the goal would be to create a conductive
environment in the classroom so that multicultural education can be promoted in the schools.
Implementation Plan: This can be achieved only by the collaboration and communication
between different stakeholders. I think with achievable time and work, we can help our
school to be fully multicultural and help students from all the communities. If we talk about
the time, then I think we can make achieve our goals in 1-1.5 years, if we keep working on
our process. We need to keep the people motivated and try to be focused on our goal and do
not get carried away by smaller achievements, and we need to keep working for the ultimate
goal of making our school multicultural not only on papers but also in spirit.
My most important strength is my negotiating power. I have always been good with
convincing people. So, I think I can be a bridge between different stakeholder here and try to
talk everyone out and make them understand why it is important for the schools to become
multicultural as it helps in creating more equal society. It we think about the Lopez, he is also
thinking of a school which have the capability and environment to cater all the students.
There will be many challenges in going forward but some are very important like managing
the resources and taking everyone into confidence. I think we need to talk to every
stakeholder and try to convince them about the importance of diverse learning process in the
schools and how it can have a positive impact on our learning process. For the issue of
finance, we need to look for other ways of getting funds other than the traditional ones. It will
give us more flexibility in implementing new ideas.
