Kaarana Shatakam
Bhagavan Shri Krishna is the cause of all causes, the Supreme controller. By chanting
Kaarana Shatakam, surrender to Him and take refuge of His lotus feet. Everything will
happen in a manner that is best for you. This hymn will give you devotion and
surrenderness.
मम जीवनस्य जीवनम् । उद्भाषितं षनत्यशोभनम् ॥

त्वमेव दे वं त्वमेव सववम् । हृषद स्थिते सदा धारणम् ॥
हे कृष्ण हे माधव हे दे व त्वम् । सवव कारणस्य कारणम्॥१॥
Mama jeevanasya jeevanam Udbhaashitam nityashobhanam

Twameva devam’ twameva sarvam Hrudi sthite sadaa dhaaranam
Hey Krishna hey Madhava hey Deva twam
Sarva kaaranasya kaaranam॥1॥
The life of my life, the supporter of my life force, your eternal effulgence is ever splendid!
You only are the Deva, my everything, it is you who resides in my heart and always holds me
and bears me. O’ Krishna, O’Madhava, O’ Deva you are the cause of all causes.
मम हृदयस्य हृदयम् । सत्भाषितं षनत्य सदयम् ॥

त्वमेव पूणं त्वमेव स्वणवम् । प्रेमम् आनंदं अद् भुदयम् ॥
हे कृष्ण हे माधव हे दे व त्वम् । सवव कारणस्य कारणम्॥२॥
Mama hrudayasya hrudayam Sadbhaashitam nitya sadayam

Twameva poornam twameva svarnam Premam aanandam
adbhudayam
You are the heart of my heart (the core of my core), whatever you say is always the truth
(you do not say the truth, in fact what you say is the truth!), You are the complete, you are
priceless, you are the essence and from you comes pure love and bliss. O’ Krishna,
O’Madhava, O’ Deva you are the cause of all causes.
मम षवचारस्य षवचारम् । सद्भाव हॄद्भाव संचारम् ॥

त्वमेव सत्यं त्वमेव षनत्यम् । स्मृषत ज्ञानं सवव आधारम् ॥
हे कृष्ण हे माधव हे दे व त्वम् । सवव कारणस्य कारणम् ॥३॥
Mama vichaarasya vichaaram Sadbhaava hrudbhaava

sanchaaram
Twameva satyam twameva nityam Smruti gyaanam sarva
aadhaaram
You are the thought of my thoughts (“I” is Shri Hari, “I” in reference to ourselves is nothing
but false ego), you are the inducer of divine qualities, all divine qualities come from you.
You only are the truth, whatever you do is the truth and nothing else, you only are the
eternal, you are the basis of my memory, knowledge and everything. O’ Krishna,
O’Madhava, O’ Deva you are the cause of all causes.
मम शरीरस्य आधारम् । त्वमेक षनत्य षनराधारम् ॥

त्वमेव धमं त्वमेव कमवम् । सववसूत्रस्य सूत्रधरम् ॥
हे कृष्ण हे माधव हे दे व त्वम् । सवव कारणस्य कारणम् ॥४॥
Mama shareerasya aadhaaram Twameka nitya niraadhaaram

Twameva dharmam twameva karmam Sarvasutrasya
sutradharam
You are the support of all of my 3 bodies (Physical, Subtle and Causal body) but you are the
only one who is forever unsupported, you need no support. You are the righteousness and
you are the action. You are the string which joins everything in a single thread (मत्त: परतरं
नान्यत्किञ्चिदत्कि धनञ्जय । मञ्चय सर्वञ्चमदं प्रोतं सूत्रे मञ्चिगिा इर् ॥ B.G 7.7 ॥ Lord Kishna Says, O’
Dhananjay, nothing beyond me exists in the universe. The way pearls are threaded in a
string or a garland, the same way this creation is threaded in me) O’ Krishna, O’Madhava,
O’ Deva you are the cause of all causes.
मम सवव सुख दायकम् । षनत्यसुधा वेणु गायकम् ॥

त्वमेव कताव त्वमेव धताव । माता षपता आत्मनायकम् ॥
हे कृष्ण हे माधव हे दे व त्वम् । सवव कारणस्य कारणम् ॥५॥
Mama sarva sukha daayakam Nityasudhaa venu gaayakam

Twameva kartaa twameva dhartaa Maataa pitaa aatma
naayakam
You are the giver of all my happiness, the root of my happiness is the eternally flowing
nectar from your flute. You only are the doer, the sole doer, you are my mother, father and
the hero of my heart. O’ Krishna, O’Madhava, O’ Deva you are the cause of all causes.
मम षदव्य नन्दनंदनम् । आनंदकंद सुचंदनम् ॥

त्वमेव स्वामी हे अन्तयावमी । सवव हॄदयस्य स्पंदनम् ॥
हे कृष्ण हे माधव हे दे व त्वम् । सवव कारणस्य कारणम्॥६॥
Mama divya nanda nandanam Aananda kanda suchandanam

Twameva Swami hey antaryaami Sarva hrudayasya spandanam
O’ my divine son of Nanda, you are the root of all bliss, even the fragrant sandalwood
fragrantly blooms when it is touched by you. O’ omniscient, all knowing, you only are my
master! You are the heartbeat of all. O’ Krishna, O’Madhava, O’ Deva you are the cause of
all causes.
॥ इषत श्री कृष्णदासः षवरषचत कारण िटकम् सम्पूणवम्॥
