Meet Monty the Moose Snuggler! The perfect size


and squishiness for those little ones to play and
cuddle with. The sweetest little moose that you
ever did see (and make).

MATERIAL
YARN HOOK GAUGE
Super Bulky Weight (6) 6.5mm and 7mm Gauge is not needed for this pattern
Yarn Used: Bernat Blanket Yarn
Main Colour - approx. 130g
OTHER ITEMS FINISHED SIZE
Contrast Colour - approx. 22g
Polyfill stuffing Approx. 15 inches tall (antler to foot)
Super Bulky or Worsted Weight for Tapestry needle
embroidering the eyes (optional) Stitch marker

ABBREVIATIONS NOTES
US Terms Each part is crocheted in continuous rounds, unless noted
otherwise.
BO = Bobble Stitch
Use a stitch marker at the beginning of each round.
CC = Contrast Colour
Bobble Stitch (BO) – *yarn over, insert hook into stitch,
Ch = Chain
pull up loop, yarn over, pull through first 2 loops on hook*
Dec = Decrease
*repeat 3 more times for 5 loops on your hook, yarn over
Hdc = Half Double Crochet
and pull through all 5 loops.
Inc = Increase
Sc = Single Crochet
Sc2tog = Single Crochet Two Together
St/Sts = Stitch(es)

INSTRUCTIONS
Before starting, cut a long piece of main colour to be used to sc2tog around the bottom of the neck after Round 12.

HEAD
Use 6.5mm hook and start in the main colour.

Round 1 – 6 sc in a magic circle (6)


Round 2 – inc around (12)
Round 3 – (1 sc, inc) repeat around (18)
Round 4 – (2 sc, inc) repeat around (24)
Round 5 – (inc, inc, 10 sc) x 2 (28)
Round 6 – 2 sc, inc, 13 sc, inc, 11 sc (30)
Round 7 to 8 – sc around (30) 2 rounds total
*If using safety eyes - attach between Rounds 6 + 7, approx. 5 or 6 sts apart
Round 9 – (3 sc, dec) repeat around (24)
Round 10 – (2 sc, dec) repeat around (18)
Round 11 – (sc, dec) repeat around (12)
Round 12 – sc around (12)
Stuff the head, shaping the increases from Rounds 5 and 6. This will act as the sides of the moose's head.
Move on to the instructions below to close off the head.

INSTRUCTIONS: CLOSING OFF THE HEAD *MUST BE DONE BEFORE MOVING ONTO THE BODY*

This will decrease the size of the hole of the head to prevent stuffing from falling into the body.

Attach your yarn piece (cut before starting) to Round 12 back loop. You will (sc2tog) in the BACK LOOPS ONLY approx. 5 or
6 times until the hole decreases. Bind off, sew in your ends. Push in the decrease round and continue with the body.
**Brown yarn used below is just to show the location of the stitches. Make sure to use your main colour yarn.**

INSTRUCTIONS
BODY

Change to 7mm hook and continue in the main colour. The body is worked using half double crochet and
continuous rounds.
The first round of hdc (Round 1) will be worked in the front loops of Round 12 of the Head (Photo A).

Round 1 – hdc around (12)


Round 2 – (1 hdc, inc) repeat around (18)
Round 3 – (2 hdc, inc) repeat around (24)
Round 4 to 5 – hdc around (24) 2 rounds total
Round 6 – (3 hdc, inc) repeat around (30)
Round 7 – hdc around (30)
Round 8 – (3 hdc, dec) repeat around (24)
Round 9 – (2 hdc, dec) repeat around (18)
Round 10 – (1 hdc, dec) repeat around (12)
Round 11 – hdc around (12)
*Do not stuff*
Cut a long tail to weave the last round closed. Weave the tail through the 12 outer loops of Round 11 (Photo B).
Pull gently to close (careful not to pull too hard as the yarn may break) and sew in your end.

Use 6.5mm hook and the contrast colour. Stuff Use 6.5mm hook and the main colour.

Round 4 – dec, dec, 5 sc (7) Row 1 – 2 sc in the 2nd chain from the hook (2)
Round 5 – dec, 5 sc (6) Row 2 – inc x 2 (4)
Round 6 – dec, 2 sc, inc, sc (6) Row 3 to 4 – sc across (4) 2 rows total
Round 7 – sc, bobble, 4 sc (6) Row 5 – dec x 2 (2)
Round 8 to 9 – sc around (6) 2 rounds total Row 6 – dec (1)
Round 10 – 2 sc, bobble, 3 sc (6) Bind off, sew in your end. *This is the top of the ear*
Round 11 – sc around (6) Make 2.
Bind off, leave a long tail for attaching.
Make 2.

NOSE
Use 6.5mm hook and the main colour.
The nose is worked around a foundation chain

Chain 5
Round 1 – sc in the 2nd chain from the hook, 2 sc, sc x 3 in the
last chain space, 3 sc, sc x 3 in the last chain space (12)
Round 2 – (3 sc, inc, inc, inc) x 2 (18)
Round 3 – sc around (18)
Round 4 – (sc, dec) x 6 (12)
Bind off, leave a long tail for attaching.

Stuff the hand lightly. The next rounds are hdc.
Round 7 to 10 – hdc around (5) 20 sts total
Fold in half and sc closed, approx. 2-3 sc.
Bind off, leave a long tail for attaching.
Make 2.

LEGS

Use 6.5mm hook and the main colour

Round 1 – 7 sc in a magic circle (7)


Round 2 – inc around (14)
Round 3 – sc around (14)
Round 4 – (dec, 5 sc) x 2 (12)
Round 5 – sc around (12)
Round 6 – dec around (6)
Stuff the foot lightly. The next rounds are hdc.
Round 7 to 10 – hdc around (6) 24 sts total
Fold in half and sc closed, approx. 3-4 sc.
Bind off, leave a long tail for attaching.
Make 2.

ASSEMBLY
ANTLERS
Attach on top of the head at Rounds 3 to 5, approx. 7 sts
apart in the back of the head counting at Round 5.

EARS
Attach on the head in front of the antlers at Round 5.

NOSE
Stuff as you attach. Attach on the front of the face at Rounds
6 + 7 to Rounds 10 + 11.

EYES
*If not using safety eyes*
Embroider at Round 6, above the nose, approx. 5 or 6 sts
apart.

ARMS
Attach between Rounds 1 + 2 of the Body, approx. 5 sts
apart in the front.

LEGS
Attach at Rounds 8 to 10 of the Body.
