A. Reviewing past lesson or Review:

B. Establishing a purpose Motivation Question: Do you experience buying things in the store? What should you

Motive Question: Now we will read a short story about an obedient boy. Let us find out
how did he follow his mother’s order.
C. Presenting Examples/ Romy is a clever 9-year old boy. Romy is obedient to his mother. He can do many
instances of the new simple tasks such as doing household chores, buying things at the store and looking
lesson after his little sister. One day, his mom called him and ask him to buy some food at the
store. Her mom gave him a list. He needs to buy soy sauce, vinegar, pepper, and garlic.
When he came to the market, the total of his item costs 67php. He gave 70 php to the
cashier. After receiving his change, he went back home and hand the items to his
mother.
Comprehension Check:

5. What basic operation do we need to use to know how much his change is?

Subtraction is a method of taking away one or more things. We use
subtraction in daily situations such as buying things from the store and finding
out the change or how much money is needed. Subtraction is denoted using
the minus symbol ‘—‘.

8. Do you also help your mother at home like what Romy did? Why is it important
to be obedient to our parents? (ESP Integration- Showing respect to parents and

Romy showed obedience in the story. Obedience is not about doing exactly
what someone tells you to do: it is about listening to those in authority and
showing respect to them-your parents or other adults.

from the springboard. In this question, the teacher asked the pupils to identify which
among the places on the map is in superlative form specifically referring to its sizes.
