Supplementary Material: Saying When An Action Has Happened
Whenever we want to express whether an action continues at the moment we are speaking, we use the following
adverbs:
Still is used to indicate that something is the same as before. It means «up to the present moment»
and it is generally used in affirmative sentences;
for example.
Susan affirms that she still loves Joseph.
Already is used in sentences that tell what has happened or has been completed
before the time of speaking;
for example:
"I’m only twenty five and I’m already getting grey hair"
Yet expresses an action that has not occurred until now. It is generally used with the Present
Perfect in negative and interrogative sentences;
for example:
It was raining at lunch time and is still raining.
The rain hasn’t stopped yet.
