Macros in MS Word are automated sequences of tasks that you can record and run to

perform repetitive tasks more quickly and easily. For example, you could record a
macro to format a table of contents, insert a specific image, or create a custom
watermark.

To record a macro in MS Word:

1. Click the Developer tab.


2. In the Code group, click Record Macro.
3. In the Macro name box, type a name for your macro.
4. In the Store macro in box, select where you want to store your macro. To make your
macro available in all documents, select All Documents (Normal.dotm).
5. Click OK.

Word will start recording your actions. Perform the tasks that you want to automate.
When you are finished, click the Stop Recording button on the Status bar.

To run a macro, click the Developer tab and then click the Macros button in the Code
group. Select the macro that you want to run and then click Run.

You can also assign a keyboard shortcut to a macro to run it even faster. To do this,
follow these steps:

1. Click the Developer tab.


2. In the Code group, click Macros.
3. Select the macro that you want to assign a keyboard shortcut to and then click Options.
4. In the Macro Options dialog box, click the Assign Macro to Keyboard button.
5. In the Assign Macro dialog box, press the keyboard shortcut that you want to assign to
the macro.
6. Click Assign.
7. Click Close.

Now, you can run the macro by pressing the keyboard shortcut that you assigned to it.

Here are some examples of how you can use macros in MS Word:

 Create a custom template for your documents.


 Automate the formatting of your documents.
 Insert common text or images into your documents.
 Create custom tables of contents, indexes, and lists of figures.
 Generate custom reports.

Macros can be a powerful tool for saving time and improving your productivity in MS
Word.
