Revision 1.2
1 Introduction
This document will outline how to install the Cadence SPB tools using the standard Cadence installation
process. This process will not use the EBG Client Installer. With this new process, the installation will be
faster and more interactive so that it is easier to monitor the progress of the installation.
Important Note: Do not open production PCB board files on Allegro 22.1 as you may not be able to open
the board in 17.4. Wait until 22.1 is released for production use to work on production boards and
schematics.
2 Installation Overview
The overview of the process is as follows:
• Copy the Cadence installation files from the W drive to your PC.
• Copy the new mapping and start scripts from the W drive to your desktop.
• Run the Cadence Installer, manually enter information as the installer requests it.
• When completed, reboot.
• Repeat the installation for the latest Cadence Hotfix.
• Reboot again.

patches on top of the 22.1-s007 hotfix.
Manually copy the three patch files to your Cadence installation (C:/Cadence/SPB_22.1 folder.)
• Ensure the Cadence tools and your local Pulse server are NOT running.
• If you have not mapped the W drive already, map the drive with the appropriate <R, T or B>GLD-
<q, M or X>-netuseworkbench-221.bat file.
• Copy the file W:\cadence_install\22.1-s007\canvasgraphics64.dll to

• PC Boards opened in 22.1 may not open in older releases of Allegro PCB.
• You can delete the C:\temp\22.1 and C:\temp\22.1-s003 folders to save space on your PC.
The first time you run System Capture in 22.1, you will need to reset the following User Preferences to
reset the background back to the dark mode. These preferences only need to be set once.
