3. Risks

Flammable. This substance may cause irrepairable damage to man’s health.

4. First-aid measures

Inhalation:
Provide fresh air immediately. Keep warm and quiet.
If the victim has trouble breathing or is not breathing at all, apply artificial respiration and/or
call medical

assistance immediately.
If the victim is unconscious, lay him/her in a stable position on the side.

Contact with skin:


Free skin immediately by taking off soiled clothing, remove excess material with a cloth, and
wash the skin with ample soap and warm water.
Call medical assistance immediately if you notice any strange symptoms.

Ingestion:
Do not induce the victim to vomit if the substance is swallowed.
Rinse the mouth with water.
Call medical assistance immediately or bring the victim to a hospital.

Contact with eyes:


Rinse the eyes with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes.
Keep the eyes open.
If irritation continues, call medical assistance.

5. Fire fighting measures

Fire extinguishing substances:


AFFF, carbon dioxide, dry chemicals, or foam.
Do not use a jet of water.
Cool drums and tanks in the vicinity with water.

Exposure hazards:
If the substance is not burnt up completely, carbon monoxide may be released.

Protective measures:
Wear breathing apparatus suitable for fire.

6. Measures if substance or preparation is released unintentially

Personal precautions:
Ventilate space well.
Remove inflammable objects/substances.
Leave contaminated areas.
Make all persons without suitable protective clothing and equipment leave the area.
Approach from wind side.

Environmental precautions:
May not be discharged into sewage systems discharging into surface waters.
Warn local authorities in case of unintended discharges.

Cleaning methods:
Dam flow and remove substance with inert absorbent material.
Gather material in suitable packaging and remove as chemical waste.

7. Handling and storage

Handling:
Avoid contact with skin, eyes and respiratory system.
Provide good ventilation and local exhaustion.
Keep away from inflammable objects/substances.
The product may be charged electrostatic, always use earthing.

Storage:
Store closed packagings in cool, ventilated space.
Keep away from inflammable objects/substances.
Storage temperature equivalent to ambient temperature.

8. Measures to control exposure and personal protection

Air ventilation:
The minimum quantity of air required to reach the MAC value when ventilating is 6,000 m3
per litre of the product.
The MAC value is 100 ppm.

Advice for personal protection:


If personnel are exposed to a level above the minimum level, they must use suitable and
approved breathing apparatus.
If the hands are repeatedly exposed to contact with the substance, or for a long period of
time, a sealing cream can be used to protect any uncovered skin. These cannot be used,
however, if the skin has already been in contact with the substance.
Use protective glasses.

Strong oxidizing agents, strong acids and strongly alkaline substances.

Hazardous products of decomposition:


During combustion, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, smoke and nitrogen oxide are
released.

11. Toxicological information

Inhalation:
Breathing high vapour concentrations may cause headache, dizziness, muscular weakness,
sleepiness, queasiness, vomiting, a reduction of vision and, in extreme cases,
unconsciousness.

Skin:
Repeated or long exposure to the product may result in the removal of fats from the skin,
which may cause non-allergic contact eczema and which may cause the substance to be
absorbed through the skin.

Eyes:
If the liquid is introduced into the eyes, this may cause irritation and irreparable damage.

Swallowing:
May cause headache, dizziness, nausea, stomach cramp, and irritation of the mucous
membranes.

12. Ecological information

The product and any slacking water contaminated with the product may not be discharged
into the sewage system or surface water.

13. Instructions for removal

Process any waste according to the regulations of local, regional and central authorities.
