Homework
The purpose of the first stage of research is to find powerful formats to analyze in the second stage of
research. The most valuable research will come from the strongest formats, so this assignment is about
helping you see the difference between strong formats and weak formats for research purposes.
PART 1
Find and compile links to three pages that are good candidates for content research. You can choose pages
from within your space, from any other space, or a mix of both. Please insert a page from each of the
following platforms, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
Please check that each page you submit satisfies the Five Criteria listed below.
They should have at least 5 recent videos from each performance tier.
Bronze: total flops for the page - usually under 100 thousand
Note: each tier should usually be about one digit apart. For example, gold tier content could be 7
digits or above, silver would be 6 digits, and bronze would be 5 and below.
They should not be driven by success off-platform (no celebrity or major brand pages).
The content should stick to one format or a small handful of repeatable formats.
The content feels like a commercial or directly conveys an intention to sell a product or
service.
The videos in each performance tier are relatively recent, no more than three years old.
PART 2
Please find at least one page on a platform of your choice that you really like despite poor performance.
Usually, this is content that speaks really to your particular interests but fails to speak to the general
audience.
