SET-UP SECTION

Check the unit for damage.

If damage is found, follow the instructions on the Delivery and Dam-
age Claims Guidelines wall chart (Reorder No. S0477) before pro-
ceeding further.
Cut the strap, open the fastener, and remove the polypropylene
cover.

Cut the strap and remove the parts carton from the crate base.
Cut the tie and remove the key and helmet holder from the left side
footpeg.

booklet from the parts carton and hand deliver it to the customer at
the time of delivery. TIE
SET-UP PARTS
Unpack the remaining loose parts and check them against this illustration and list.

• Using two people, carefully lift off the top crate frame.
• Take care not to damage the motorcycle while removing the top TOP CRATE

Remove the top crate frame.
Remove the four posts.

Support the motorcycle, remove the two bolts and rear support
bracket off the crate base.
Remove the rear support bracket by pulling it towards the rear of the

Using two people, carefully roll the motorcycle forward off the crate FRONT
base.
Place the motorcycle on its sidestand.
NOTE: Do NOT roll the motorcycle backwards as it may dam-
age the underside of the frame.

Remove the 8 x 32 mm socket bolts and rear seat belt. SOCKET BOLT COLLAR
Remove the rear seat mounting socket bolts, collar and rear seat. 8 x32 mm REAR

Attach the helmet holder onto the seat frame using two 6 x 13 mm
torx bolts.
Tighten the torx bolts to the specified torque.
TORQUE: 10 N·m (1.0 kgf·m, 7 lbf·ft)
When reinstalling the rear fender, insert the rear fender mudguards
between the engine and swingarm. MUDGUARD
Attach the Velcro tape onto the rear fender under the seat. COLLAR REAR
Attach one of the bags onto the rear fender. This bag will be used to SOCKET

Remove the left and right side cover.
Place the Owner’s Manual in the bag and attach it to the inside of
the right side cover.

Clean the front and rear brake discs with brake cleaner and a clean

Service the battery only if the motorcycle has been sold or is to be
used as a demonstration vehicle.
Ensure the ignition is in the OFF position.
The electrolyte has already been added to the battery.

Remove the battery band and battery. BAND
Remove the protective cap from the positive (+) terminal.
Remove the battery terminal bolts and nuts.
LEFT SIDE COVER
Slide the battery terminal nuts into the battery terminals. POSITIVE (+) NEGATIVE (-)
Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the end of the negative CABLE CABLE
battery terminal to prevent the nut from falling out during battery RED

ENGINE OIL
Before starting the engine, remove the anti-rust coating from the OIL FILLER CAP/
engine and exhaust system using a mild detergent and water. DIPSTICK
Rinse with clean water.
Hold the motorcycle in an upright position.
Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick and check the dipstick to make
sure the engine has oil.
Replace the oil filler cap/dipstick.
Start the engine and let it idle for 3 – 5 minutes.
UPPER
Stop the engine and wait 2 – 3 minutes.
Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick and wipe it clean.
Insert the oil filler cap/dipstick without screwing it in, remove it and

check the oil level.
If the oil level is below or near the lower level line on the oil filler cap/
dipstick, and add the recommended engine oil to the UPPER level.
Reinstall the oil filler cap/dipstick.
When replacing the engine oil, refer to the Service Manual.
RECOMMENDED ENGINE OIL:
Pro Honda GN4 4-stroke oil or an equivalent motorcycle oil.
Viscosity: SAE 10W-30
API Classification: SG or higher.
JASO T 903 standard: MA
ENGINE COOLANT
RECOMMENDED MIXTURE:
1:1 (mixture with distilled water)
CLUTCH LEVER
Measure the clutch lever freeplay at the end of the clutch lever.

CLUTCH LEVER FREEPLAY: 10 - 20 mm (3/8 - 13/16 in) (3/8 - 13/16 in)
ADJUSTMENT
LOCK NUT
Adjust the clutch lever freeplay by the adjuster.
Make small adjustments at the lever end of the cable by loosening
the lock nut and turning the adjuster.
Tighten the lock nut after making the adjustment.
Before making any large adjustments, loosen the lever lock nut and
turn the adjuster all the way in.
Make large adjustments at the engine end of the cable.
Tighten the lock nut after making the adjustment.
ADJUSTER
BRAKE FLUID
Park the motorcycle on a level surface. CAPS FRONT
Turn the handlebar so the front brake reservoir is level and check SCREW
CAP
the brake fluid level mark.
Check the rear brake reservoir.
If the fluid level in either reservoir is low, remove the cap screws,
cap, plate, and diaphragm.
Add fresh Pro Honda DOT 4 Brake Fluid or equivalent from a sealed
container to bring the level up to the upper level.
• Brake fluid can cause irritation; avoid contact with the eyes and REAR

skin.
• Handle brake fluid with care as it can cause damage to paint and BOLT
plastics.
Reinstall the diaphragm, plate, cap, and cap screws.
Tighten the cap screws to the specified torque.
Operate the brake lever and pedal.
If the freeplay is excessive, bleed the system.
FRONT CAP SCREW:
TORQUE: 1.5 N·m (0.15 kgf·m, 1.1 lbf·ft)
REAR COVER BOLT:
TORQUE: 10 N·m (1.0 kgf·m, 7 lbf·ft)
THROTTLE OPERATION
Check for smooth operation of the throttle and that it returns auto-
matically to the fully closed position from any open position and from 2 - 6 mm
(1/16 - 1/4 in)
any steering position.
Measure the freeplay at the throttle grip flange.
THROTTLE GRIP FREEPLAY: 2 - 6 mm (1/16 - 1/4 in)
ADJUSTMENT
Adjust the freeplay by loosening the lock nut and turning the

adjuster.
After adjustment, tighten the lock nut securely.
Recheck the throttle operation.
