Different formats to save calc worksheet


Question:1- Explore how many formats you can save the calc
worksheet using the save as option. Verify it by opening the software

Answer: -
Step 1: - Click on the file menu.
Step 2: - Then click on the save option or CTRL+S.
Step 3: - Save as dialog box will appear.
Step 4: - Click on the save as type. Select the format in which you
want to save the worksheet
Colouring and adding sheets
Question:2- Open a calc document, add seven sheets using a sheet
tab, and colour them as rainbow colours such as “violet”, “indigo,”
......etc. Ensure that the “indigo" sheet is recoloured with indigo
colour.

Answer: - Step-1: Open a calc worksheet, and go to the sheet tab.


Step 2: Add sheets by clicking on the ‘+’ symbol or right-clicking on the
sheet tab. A pop-up menu will appear.
Step 3: Select the option ‘insert sheet' and the desired number of sheets
will be inserted.
To colour each sheet as the rainbow colour. Have a look on the
following steps: -

Step-1: Right click on the sheet which you want to colour.


Step-2: Select the option ‘rename sheet' and rename each sheet as
the rainbow’s colours.
Step-3: After renaming each sheet, right click on indigo sheet and
choose the option ‘Tab colour’.
Step-4: A dialog box will appear, from there select the indigo
colour.
Step-5: Do the same with all sheets. And you are done...
Auto-fill negative numbers.
Question:3- Try auto-fill tool with negative numbers.

Fill Handle

Answer: - To auto-fill negative numbers in calc. Follow the


following steps: -
Step:1- Fill -1 and -2 in first and second cell respectively.
Step:2- Select both of them using mouse.
Step:3- Click on the right down corner of the selected cells.
Step:4- There would be a fill handle.
Step:5- Drag that auto fill handle up to the cell you want your
negative numbers.
Auto-fill dates
Question:4- Try auto-fill tools with two dates. Write 15-08-2013 in a
cell and in it’s Adjacent cells with a successive date. Drag the
content to next 10 cells. Using this technique try to create a monthly
calendar.

Answer:- To create a monthly calendar using auto-fill tool. Follow


the listed steps:-
Step 1- Enter the date in the first cell as 15-08-2013.
Step 2- Now select the date using a mouse and drag it as a
calendar.
Step 3- Drag it up to the end-of-month date. And you are
done.
Adding names to the dictionary.
Question:5- Add your name to the dictionary so that the red line will
not be displayed under it.

Answer:-Follow steps to add your name in the dictionary to avoid the red line
Step-1:- Add your name in a cell.
Step 2:- Go to menu< tools< spellings or click F7.

Step 3:- A dialog box named SPELLING will appear.


Step 4:- Click on the Add to Dictionary option.

Step 5:- After adding your name add it to the dictionary. Click CLOSE
option.
Step:6:- After clicking on close you will notice that the red line which was
earlier coming under your name will disappear as your name is now added to the
dictionary.
Implementation of a shopping bill.
Question:6- Implement the example of the shopping bill discussed
in this chapter. Study any bill you get from a superstore and
implement it in calc.

Answer:- Given above is the shopping bill created in calc.


Step 1- Add all the details or values of the shopping bill in the
calc.
Step 2- Use the formula to calculate the total cost.
Step 3- Drag the cursor to use the formula in the other cells as
well.
Calculating total and average marks.
Question:7- Generate the calc document with all your marks for six
different subjects. Make a total of the marks and find out the average
and percentages from the data.

Answer:- Step 1- Type the marks of different subjects and find


the sum using the formula.
Step 2- Write the formula for finding the percentage and average
as well.
Sorting a list according to class and names..
Question:8- Make a list as given below and sort the list according
to the class and then by names.

Answer:- To sort a list according to class and then by names. Follow the
below-listed steps:-
For sorting the list according to name:-
Step:1- Select the classes of all three students
Step 2- Select the Data option from the main menu.
Step 3- From the Data menu select SORT ASCENDING.
You will see that the names are now arranged in ascending order by the
first letters of the names.
For sorting the list according to class of the students:-

Step 1- Select the classes of the students.


Step 2- Click on the Data option and then click on the SORT
ASCENDING option.
You will see that the list will change according to the classes of the
students.
Filtering a list according to August.
Question 9- Filter the list of friends you have created in question 8
above so that it will display only those friends' information
whose birth dates are in August

Answer:- To filter the above list so that the calc would only display the
names of those students whose birthdays come in August, follow the steps
listed below:-
Step 1- Firstly add one more column to the list which has a new name and
the details of the student.
Step 2- Now select the headings of the list, click on the DATA menu
and further click on the AUTO-FILTER
option or ctrl+shift+L.
Step:3- When we apply auto filter there will be a small arrow appears
with headings like this:-
Step:4- Click on the arrow coming the with Month of Birth...
Step 5- A dialogue box will appear, in which you have to enter
AUGUST in the search box.
Step:6- After that click on the OK option or just press enter.
You will see that the student whose month of Birth was August is
only appearing and the rest of the list has now disappeared.
Finding notes about sorting and filtering using
LibreOffice Help
Question 10- Use help to find information about sorting and
filtering. Prepare notes on these topics using Help.

Answer:- SORTING THE DATA:-


Step 1- Go to the help menu and click on LibreOffice Help.
Step 2- The LibreOffice Help interface will be opened, and now there will be a
search box.

Step 3- On that search box type SORTING.


Step 4- Different options regarding sorting will appear. If you want to know about
sorting the data then click on the SORT DATA option.
FILTERING THE DATA:-
Step 1- Go to the Help menu, and from there select LibreOffice
Help.
Step 2- An interface will appear on the screen.
Step 3- On that interface go to the search option and search for
FILTERING.
Step 4- Many options regarding the Filtering of data will appear.
Click on the second option Applying Filters.
Data Validation
Question:11- Use your notes on data validation and also use the
data you have entered in question 8, to validate the data in the date
of birth column so that nobody can enter the data such as 33. You
have to make data validation in such a way that it will accept only
1 to 31 numbers as date of Birth values.

Answer:- Data validation:-


Step 1- Select the date of birth column.

Step 2- Click on DATA and then VALIDITY.


Step 3- A dialog box will appear named validity. By default, the option
selected would be CRITERIA.
Step 4- Click on the All values option and select whole numbers.
Step:5- In the data option select Less than or equal to

Step:6- In the context of MAXIMUM enter 31.


OR
Step 1- Select the date of birth column.

Step 2- Click on DATA and then VALIDITY.


Step 3- A dialog box will appear named validity.

Step 4- Click on ERROR ALERT.


Step:5- In the error message type:--Not allowed <=31

Result:- Now if you type any number in the date of the month menu then it
will

Step 1- Go to the View menu, and select Master Handouts.
Step 2- Click on the handout view(4 slides on one page) and click on ok
automatically to be changed into a number lesser than 31.
Preparing a mark sheet

Question:12- Consider your marks in different subjects and prepare a


mark sheet containing the school name, student’s name, number,
class and marks. Also find percentages, marks and grades.
