2. Course overview

Engineering management (EM) is actually fundamentals of planning, organizing and leadership as

needed by engineers, scientists, and other professionals considering managerial positions as well as
focused on optimizing complex processes or systems by reducing wastefulness in production. This
course will expose you to the craft of management. EM will cover the fundamentals of management
including management theory, planning and control, strategic management, organizing, ethics,
leadership, innovation and change, and communication skills. Engineering management course is
important because this course covers the basics of engineering and technology management, with
a focus on decision models. Tools for decision-making for the managerial functions (planning,
organizing, motivating and control) will be discussed

Course objective

This course aims to establish the knowledge of methods to analyse workplace conditions, project
planning & practices for factors that hinder productivity; to improve productivity & efficiency
through improvements in work methods, services, workstation design, work environments; and to
develop and use time standards to assess productivity. Also this course aims to establishing
methods for improving operations and controlling production costs.

Upon the completion of this course the students will be able to: -

* Identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of

engineering management concepts, science, and mathematics * Succeed in scientific or
engineering enterprise management roles * Develop and conduct appropriate experiments,
analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions * Use various
technical tools and appropriate learning strategies to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed
* Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet the specified needs safety, cultural,
social, environmental, and economic factors.

3. Student’s obligation

Attendance in Class is very important for your activity during this course also students should be arrived on
time without any delays and mobile phone should be put on silent
