SKILLS TAUGHT-

This activity pack is EDITABLE so it can be used to practice sight words, word families, phonics
skills, themed words for speci fic units, student names... the possibilities are endless!

EDITING YOUR PRODUCT-

Download ALL HELLO Fonts (it’s free!) for easy editing:

Then click on the grey box you want to edit and change the word.

SUPPLIES-

To complete all of the activities in this pack, you’ll need:

Dice Scissors
Crayons Glue sticks
Markers Alphabet stamps and ink pads
Watercolor paints Highlighters

If you don’t have a supply on the list, si mply ski p that activity and move on to something else.

COMPLETING THE ACTIVITIES-

Type your word list on the editable sheet. I included one version for beginning readers (it has
10 spots for words) and a second version for more advanced readers (with 18 spots).

Print out enough copies of the list so each child will have one.

Note: You can easily di fferentiate the lists by typing in a di fferent set of words for groups of
kids who are reading at the same level. For instance, one word list for beginning readers, a
second list for your middle readers and a third list for your advanced readers.

Pick one of the activities and print the sheet(s) kids need to complete it. Many of the pages
come with a front and back that can be copied double sided.

Read the directions and gather any supplies you’ll need.

Reading and writing sight words.

PREP-

Print off the cards and record sheet.

Cut apart the cards and place them in a pile upside down on the table.

PLAY-

This game is played exactly like the original Tic-Tac-Toe game but, instead of
using Xs and Os, students will claim their spaces with a sight word instead!

Have Player One flip over one card at a time, read the word out loud and write it
on her record sheet to claim a space.

Then have Player Two flip over his

own card and write the sight word in a
di fferent spot.

Using the same words, players will

continue taking turns picking spots
until someone gets three in a row and
wins the game.

(If all of the spots are claimed but no

one got three in a row, it’s a tie.)

They’ll pick a new card and play again.
