The Caribbean slave trade: biggest


Barbados was first English colony with slave majority
Chesapeake was also deadly but less than Barbados
New England
a) Family unit was the common standard of migrants, as opposed to slave
b) Far less disease, far less death, higher height and lifespan than in West Indies
and even Europe
c) Fams came as middle class, not as much as indentured servants
d) More towns/schools/literacy, more community as opposed to massive land set
for agri
e) New England colonies req schools for populations of 50+

the power dynamics of this international system in varied and complicated ways. In
