Advantages of Solar Energy

Asst. Professor

1) Solar energy is inexhaustible and the most abundant source of energy available freely in
nature.
2) It is an environmental clean source of energy
3) Since it is freely available in nature, it can be used as an alternative to high cost energy
sources
4) Since it is an environment clean source of energy, it can be used for household
applications.
5) Since solar energy can be converted into other forms of energy, it can be use for a wide
range of applications.

Disadvantages of Solar Energy

1) It is dilute source of energy
2) The availability of solar energy varies with time and weather conditions
3) The energy collected during the sun shining must be stored for its use during night times
and cloudy conditions. Hence, the need for storage system increases the cost of the system
