Report on Swachhata: Keep Surroundings Clean

Organised by NSS Units -Raghu Engineering College(A).


Event Overview: The Swachhata initiative at Raghu Engineering College (Autonomous) was organized by
NSS volunteers, staff, and first-year students as part of their community service program. The aim was to
promote cleanliness and environmental awareness on campus, ensuring a hygienic and sustainable learning
environment.

Date of Event: 26-10-2024, Location: Raghu Engineering College Campus


Participants: NSS Volunteers, Faculty Members, First-Year Students

Before the Event


Prior to the event, the campus was assessed for cleanliness, and areas requiring attention were identified.
Common issues included:
• Accumulation of waste in designated areas
• Littering around common spaces such as the canteen and playground
• Neglected garden areas with overgrown weeds
Awareness sessions were conducted to educate participants about the importance of cleanliness, waste
segregation, and environmental sustainability. Students were briefed on the event’s objectives and the
significance of their contributions.
Event Activities :
Before event orientation to students by NSS Programme Officer:

Clean-Up Drive:
o Volunteers were divided into teams, each assigned specific areas on campus.
o Teams collected litter, cleaned classrooms, and removed waste from gardens.
o Special focus was given to waste segregation, educating participants about recyclable
materials.

Awareness Campaign: An interactive session was held to discuss the importance of maintaining clean
surroundings and the impact of pollution on health and the environment.

After the Event : The event concluded with a reflection on the efforts made and the outcomes achieved.
Key results included:

• Visible Improvement: Significant reduction in litter and cleaner common areas.

• Increased Awareness: Participants expressed a greater understanding of the importance of


cleanliness and environmental care.

• Ongoing Commitment: Plans were established for regular clean-up drives and sustainability
workshops to maintain momentum.

Feedback and Conclusion

Participants provided positive feedback, highlighting the sense of community and teamwork fostered
through the event. Many expressed interest in continuing similar initiatives in the future.

staff. It reinforced the idea that everyone has a role to play in keeping their surroundings clean, aligning
with the broader goals of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
