GRADING: The grade for this course will consist of a combination of MyMathLab homework,
quizzes, and exams. Regular attendance and participation, while not graded, is expected,
and will be recorded.

Your grade in this course will be determined as follows:

300 pts Exams (3 exams @ 100 pts each)
100 pts MyMathLab Homework
100 pts Quizzes
200 pts Comprehensive Final Exam
Total: 700 pts

PARTICIPATION: Learning mathematics is a process which requires the active participation of the student.
Therefore, regular participation is expected. Students are responsible for preparing for
class, which includes printing out lecture notes, reading the material to be covered before
it is discussed in class, watching any assigned videos, and completing any assigned
problems.

HOMEWORK Students will be required to complete homework assignments using My Lab Math
accessed through Blackboard. There will be a homework assignment for every section
of the book that we cover. The deadline for the homework is 11:59 pm on the day it is
due. Any late homework will have a 5% penalty per day on the portion of
homework that is done late. The final homework due date is 11:59 pm two days
before the exam that covers the assigned homework is given.

QUIZZES Quizzes will be given regularly. Each will be worth ten points. No makeup quizzes will
be given, instead, the lowest quiz score(s) will be dropped. Students who have a
university-related reason to miss a class the day a quiz is given must request an
alternative time to take the quiz prior to day the quiz is given.

EXAMS There will be three exams given throughout the semester. The exams will consist of both
open-ended and multiple-choice questions. Each test will be worth 100 points. It is very
important that you take each exam on schedule. You will be eligible for a make-up only
if you present a valid excuse (e.g. a doctor’s excuse or a university excuse).
